TITLE 26, Subtitle F, CHAPTER 75, Subchapter A, PART I , § 7201
Any person who willfully attempts in any manner to evade or defeat any tax imposed by this title or the payment thereof shall, in addition to other penalties provided by law, be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than $100,000 ($500,000 in the case of a corporation), or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both, together with the costs of prosecution.

Welcome to the capitalist west. A wonderful place where people who read aloud infront of cameras or who kick balls around a grass pitch for 90 minutes have wages multiple times the size of people like teachers, doctors, scientists (generally people who save the world and help advance mankind on a daily basis).

These are usually the paranoid sort. They're the ones with no understanding of law or economics. The Federal Reserve is evil, even though it seems to work most of the time. The gold standard, abandoned years ago, is touted because the bible says only gold is "real" money. Ergo, you don't have to pay taxes on greenbacks because they're no better than counterfeit money.
No, no, millions of people would not voluntarily choose to pay their taxes...
'Sounds like it comes from the same source which says that submitting to law enforcement is voluntary and all you have to do is say "Nah, I'm going home."
Er... yeah. The FIT is evil, and takes too much from the poor.
As for submitting to law enforcement, no, you DON'T have to submit to a search (unless they have a warrant), you DON'T have to answer their questions, and THEY DON'T have any right to just randomly stop and search a person. (Not that it stops them.) Fourth Amendment, folks.

Now, the WITHOLDING is voluntary. You can get your employer to give you the money if you think you can invest it better over the year. But you will have to pay at the end of the year.
