Not necessarily anti-gay as much as being insulted that Obama would declare a month to be as such. Black History/Pride month has a cause, Indian History/Pride month has a cause, and Obama is inferring that we now have to teach gay lifestyles in schools and respect that for a month? Not happening.

And for fuck sakes, EVERY month is Straight Pride Month. I don't see any straight couples shying away from holding hands for fear of being harassed or beaten up. I don't hear about straight couples being denied rights. i don't hear about straight couples getting flack over visitation rights in a hospital. Respecting the gays' civil rights, that's something you should always do, not just for a designated month.

No. Obama is inferring that we know have to teach our kids to stop discriminating against gays. Why can't you guys get this straight? No one, anywhere, is trying to teach your kids to be gay. It's impossible to do so. They do, however, want you to respect the fact that other people are different than you, and have a right to be so.
Okay, how about fundie persecution rememberance month? We can have festivals with booths of how you guys have to deal with such horrors as not being able to execute your enemies, gays having the same rights as you do, seeing non-believers happy and not condemned for their beliefs, seeing evolution taught in schools.
Wow, that really blows the Jewish suffering during the Shoah away doesn't it? Maybe the festival can end with a string quartet playing sad songs on violins that fit in the palm of your hand.
How about respecting other people... My issue with {fill in the blank} pride month generally ties in with the fact that members of those groups should have reason to be proud of their heritage year-round, and not just for one twelfth of the year, thereby competing with things like National Coffee Awareness Month or some other point...

First of all, you're the one doing the inferring; Obama, at most, is implying. English is a great language -- you should try using it.
Second, I would think you'd be glad June was picked, since most schools aren't in session for the entire month, limiting the time your kids will be taught gay lifestyles. I mean, it could have been October!
Third, June is also Great Outdoors Month, Family Reunion Month, Real California Milk Month, and Seniors Month, among others. When will we get Agoraphobia Month, Disfunctional Families Month, Real Wisconsin Cheese Month and Middle-Agers Month?
