You really have NFI! Antifa (I hope that word enters the language) literally means anti-fascist. It's literally like calling an anti-racist a racist as an insult!

And what is a fascist? It comes from Benito Mussolini's party, starting in the 1920s, but is from much more ancient Italian than that. The fasces were a bundle of sticks carried by Roman officials called lictors, demonstrating the power of the state. So, the idea of fascism was that people should stick together, like the bundle, democratic dissent is not tolerated. So much for "every man for himself"!

Ah yes:

[Redacted] does it with relative ease. It is twice as hard, though.

And whereas branches in the natural are variable, the only way for such a lesson to work out is for everything to be cut alike in shape, and made of the same wood...

...and bent or broken dowels? Burned.

That is among the first lessons in fascism: You're either one with the other dowels, and cut from the same wood, or you're kindling.

There's enough truth in the use of the dowels to demonstrate the need for unified purpose...and that kernel of truth was strong enough to build a fascist - and misleading - mythos around political affiliation.

As for Antifa, I've said this before. There is more than one type. Almost all are prepared to do violence...but the fascisms are incredibly violent: Sometimes the only way to fight back is to answer them in the language they speak best. (I can understand persons wanting to distance themselves from the Antifas for fear some of them will become overtly terrorist and act offensively rather than defensively. This is part of why the Antifas need to grow, reorganise, and encourage a level-headed approach to fascism, such as the will to fight propaganda with factual responses.

...and, if necessary, to protect the weak from those who see people as dowels and who see broken dowels as fit only for burning.

Yep,
The only people who aren't fascist are those that agree with and hang with Nazis
Anti-Fascists, they're the real fascists.

For those who haven't watched follow up question to people like this it usually degenerates to them repeating those last few sentences. Tea Party crowd was amazing for that "Because it is, everybody knows" mantras.

But for those that will entertain a more in depth answer you will actually hear illogical shit like "Well, they oppose us, that's denying our fights and free speech so they're the fascists!"
Don't they have a right to their opinions?
"Not if it's against what we believe!"

They've actually bought into that, they literally believe racism, intolerance and Christianity is the only REAL American values.
