Frodo isnt the nice, mild mannered, pussy you seem to think he is.
bla, bla, bla.
@Skeptical
He calls Jesus, the being they revere above all else, a "lovey dovey peacenik mealy mouthed wimp."
It would seem that he thinks Jesus is a "wimp" based off what he preached but it's mitigated because he's supposedly coming back to kick some ass. In fact if it weren't for that passage it seems he would straight up call Jesus a full-time wimp.
I couldn't spot the quote in the thread this is linked to, but it's one of the funniest, if depressing, threads I've seen for ages. These people call themselves Christian. It's mind-boggling.
I went to Catholic school, and they never taught that crap, so I don't where this "standard Christian doctrine" comes from. They think Jesus will come back, but not to "destroy the unholy infidels".
Uh huh. "Standard doctrine," all right - for a fundie - not for christians who have the ability to think, and yes, there are some.
He's coming back to destroy His enemies.
One of the strange things I've noticed about many fundies, particularly Baptists, is the apparent Arian influence on their views of Jesus. In the traditional trinitarian Christian view, Jesus is "consubstantial" with God, not a separate and distinct person. But fundies often speak of Jesus as if he were a separate entity distinct from, and created by, God the Father - what the RCs would call the "Arian Heresy". Otherwise, why would he have to "come back" to destroy us? Do they imagine God has left the building?

I'm sorry, which Bible are you reading? All mine are missing that chapter.
Mine isn't:
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn
a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -
a man's enemies will be the members of his own household."
-- Matthew 10:34-36 (NIV translation)
That's your merciful, loving Prince of Peace for ya....
To Tracer:
What he was talking about had more to do with the religious schisms within society. He probably had in mind the inevitable split between his followers and the Jewry of the time, but in our context, that particular quote refers more aptly to the frenetic tribal paranoia propagated by fundies.
RandW clearly perceives a host of enemies around him...
Chuck Norris is NOT Jesus. And I'll accept the risk of a mythical roundhouse kick for saying that.
Reminds me of a parody song. "Just wait til Jesus gets back/He'll be real pissed off that you did that/He's got some caps with your name on them, bitch-ass/Keep playing games/I'll pray for you, asshole."
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
