If evolution has occurred, then it must be a natural characteristic of all forms of life - including Homo sapiens. When a human mother
gives birth to the young of a superhuman species, I will believe
in evolution. Until then, nothing doing.

Sadly this is the type of ignorance I see all too often. Fundies take the Theory of Evolution at face value, never bother to learn fully about it and in some cases refuse to learn and then pop off with an expectation to see a monkey squirt out a human baby. Ignorance like this is difficult to endure.
But, as a wise monster once said...

But evolution is happening all the time. I used to be a spry and athletic 18 year old with a lot of flowing hair on my head and a rampant sex-drive. Now I'm middle-aged, not so spry and judiciously combing such hair as I have left to left or right. IOW I have evolved, and will continue to do so until I die.
If there were no evolution we would not change and most likely would all be clones, one of the other.
'When will they ever learn?'
@Xotan: Dude, that's not evolution at all. Evolution occurs through cumulative genetic changes in successive generations of a population of imperfect self-replicating units, not the aging of an individual. Growing old isn't a mechanism of evolution at all.
Once again, we have a creationist asking for "proof" of evolution that, if observed, would disprove a good chunk of it. Also, evolution is not a ladder. It does not have to result in increasingly complex or smarter species. It merely produces the best surviving species limited to whatever genetic mutations happen to occur to fuel it. Humans are simply lucky to exist. However, I can see where you might not want to accept that since it doesn't stroke your ego like the idea that God thought you specifically are important enough to exist. However, your feelings are irrelevant to reality.
"When a human mother gives birth to the young of a superhuman species, I will believe."
But they do! It's just that you don't recognise them because they're all disguised as mild-mannered reporters, etc.
Example of recent evolution of human species: Female voices have become increasingly deep in the last 100 years (we can tell from early voice recordings). The study that reflected on this then went all political about women trying to be like men to access the workspace, which I found idiotic (we don't *choose* to evolve, and there was no good reason why women in the workplace would be favoured to become mothers - more the other way round, I think), but the data is there.
By the way, Ex-Fundie, "Growing old isn't a mechanism of evolution at all". One, I think Xotan was joking. Two, growing old *is* a mechanism of evolution: it is one of the ways nature ensures that older generations don't compete with younger ones for the resources. Please ignore the personification of Nature there. If you don't get what I mean, I can explain further.
Hope that helps,

As a matter of fact, if evolution were true, people should evolve into cogs, not supermen. Look at society.
Evolution does not operate at the flick of a light switch, where a mother of one species gives birth to a wholly new one. However, simply because evolution does not operate the way Geoffrey wants it to hardly detracts from its existence as a reality.

1. (*ahem*) I seem to recall that the Bible claims Jesus to have been born of a woman, and he must have been quite literally superhuman if he did the things the Bible claims of him. So I guess you can believe in evolution now.
2. Your description of what would "prove" evolution to you isn't evolution at all, but would constitute the very sort of clearly demarcated step that evolution does NOT predict or require. (In short, EVOLUTION DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.) You want a magical event -- a "miracle" -- because that's the only thing you understand. But the universe is not a simple or magical place -- it is vastly more complex and fascinating than that, and words like "magic" and "miracle" are merely terms for the fictitious, the fake, and the not-understood.

Osiris, when you make those videos, please note that Dr Bunsen Honeydew is available. I suspect he would be a hit with the audience.
btw, doesn't the hovind look a bit like Beaker?
as far as i kno, all christians believe that this has already occurred, AND that it will occur again.
anybody ever heard of that jesus guy?
he sounds pretty superhuman to me...
or so the whisper goes, anyhow.
The idea of someone having offspring that are a different species than they are is purest Evolution Does Not Work That Way. But, you could have a kid who was superhuman. It depends entirely on what you accept as "superhuman".
We have had the following mutations recently:
-Sherpas and Tibetans who don't get altitude sickness and don't need as much oxygen as everybody else. Try to race one through the mountains, and you may decide that he is Superman.
-Lactose tolerance among populations eating dairy products.
-Resistance genes for assorted diseases, with malaria as one of the most common examples (although that has a downside, in that two copies of the gene gives you sickle-cell anemia).
And, more importantly - for a long time since, humanity has been cheating biological evolution. If you don't think that technology is evolving, then you clearly aren't on the Internet.
Confused?
