Thus, the order that the rational reactionary seeks to preserve and/or restore is arbitrary . Perhaps it can be justified on some moral basis. But probably not. It is good simply because it is order, and the alternative to order is violence at worst and politics at best. If the Bourbons do not rule France, someone will - Robespierre, or Napoleon, or Corner Man.

Off topic, but I generally question the massive hate for Jyggalagg. Maybe it's just because the whole matter seems like a massive "not as bad as" fallacy, but Sheeogorath's realm is quite possibly the worst of anything, including Dwemer and Ayleid cities. Granted it's mostly because no game actually showed Coldharbour or Quagmire but even then... as a person with mental illness, having mental illness held up as something to be laughed at and seen as a murderous Tim Burton la-la land is kind of upsetting. Also, I have the theory that it makes a setting worse if you layer a normal society over a horrible one and pretend it works by having people go along but accept things like the fate of suicides and dissidents, the murderous requirements of most things, the brutal fascism of a literally insane petulant manchild with no stability. I usually only ever see things that horrible in the average cheap sex fantasy made by misogynist gore fetishist, where people pretend to have normal lives with normal things, except when the porno demands it and suddenly people who were acting normally are being thrown into meat grinders as if it's a surprise.
It baffles me why a computer scientist software engineer would name themselves something which sounds like a miser or a villain from a 19th-century novel. Maybe he identifies with the type?

Well, you will have to admit Jyggalagg is a bit of a dick. I'm not saying Sheogorath is a nice guy, by any approximation. It is just that Jyggalagg is an oppressive arsehole and that remains true in any context.
Additionally, I view the Elder Scrolls world as a Crapsack World. The deities in it, even the supposedly benign ones are pretty much arseholes in one way or another. Even the supposedly good ones can veer awfully fast into Knight Templar and Well-Intentioned Extremist territory. Vigilants of Stendarr hunt down vampires and werewolves, without regard for the actual harm or absence thereof they cause. You can be a friendly neighbourhood vampire, who simply feeds on bandits and such and they will still try to roast your arse. Same for Meridia. Azura has a nasty way of enforcing what she views as destiny. And those are supposed to be the good ones.
The only one which does not seem to actively be harmful is Talos and that is mostly because he was human. The rest of them have Blue and Orange Morality and woe betide you if you are in their way.
