No, no, no, silly. It's not "Ignorance is freedom." It's "Freedom is slavery" and "Ignorance is strength." You unbellyfeel Ingsoc.
How, exactly, does removing actual science from the science curriculum, make any country freer? I dunno. Let them move to Romania, please.
In hindsight, "let them move to Romania" would seem like kind of an odd, pointless, insult just a few weeks ago. Funny how things change, isn't it?
The street vendors have great pork Pastrami there. Oh wait, sorry, True Christians cannot eat pork. Well - the gymnasts are cute. Oh, wait, sorry, True Christians cannot admire cute girls in skimpy tights. But, hey! The gypsy clans are very hospitable and love to share their food and stories with visitors. Oh, wait, True Christians cannot hang with pork eating heathens. Doesn't matter, at least you can enjoy the company of everyday Romainians! They are really the salt of the earth, a generous and kind people. What little they have is yours. Oh, shucky-darns, wait! The majority of them are Catholic or members of apolstolic churches, and as ya'll True Christians are always preachin' to us, they killed Jesus. Bummer. Guess that leaves enjoying this tiny, wonderful, country to the rest of us. You better visit Alabama instead.
Freedom to learn one group of religion's un-scientific beliefs about the universe?
That's like saying I have the freedom to buy any Microsoft OS and run it on my computer, or the freedom to drink any Pepsi brand of soda.
Whoa...whoa...nobody removed evolution from school!!
I'm from romania an I can tell you for sure that evolution still exists in biology here. Where the fuck did you guys get this?! A macedonian link amirite? was a fucking hoax friends...it was an editorial mistake.

Great... Anoter country wants to join with the US in promoting willful ignorance and a downward spiral of scientific irrelevency.

How so? How does not teaching a subject that is supported by a mountain of evidence just because it offends the literal interpretation of the bible held by a minority of christians equate with freedom? Freedom doesn't mean "Christians get their way, always".
You cry and cry and cry about how the US was once a great nation, yet you do everything in your power to drag the population and the educational system in the US down into the deapths of scientific ignorance. The same sciences you rail against are the ones that helped make the US a pre-eminent power in the post WWII world. Without sciences, biology in particular, the US would still be wracked with epidemic and endemic diseses that a largely unknown in this part of the world today. Why do you think the life expectency as almost doubled in the last century? I'll give you a hint.... it has a lot to do with evolutionary biology. Do you think Magic Man ("god") just snapped his fingers and eradicated many diseses from the US and even the world? Wait... don't answer that... someone might actually take your answer seriously.

"Nepal legalizes gay marriage."
Hmm. Considering that Nepal is in the part of the Himalayan mountains that includes Mt. Everest, one is forced to wonder how robust Nepalese newlyweds need to be in order to...consummate the relationship. *grins* High altitude, thin air, an' such.

So instead of "indoctrinating" kids with facts, they're indoctrinating them into religion? I fail to see how that's "more free."

I wonder if the posters at Conservapedia realize that Romania is also catholic?
It's actually about 85% Eastern Orthodox, less than 5% of the population are Roman Catholic ;-)
And how... is that "more free" than the U.S. of A?
I suspect we're not getting the whole story, here, and can only assume this change in curriculum came from having Cretinists in charge of said curriculum.

Finaly somebody with the actual info. The article really was misleading.
@OhMyOhMy: where do you get your information? Most romanians Catholics? or fundies? sources buddy, or get lost. Most romanians are Orthodox.
Last time I looked, creationist materials were openly available on the internet and in bookstores & even public libraries just about everywhere in the US. There's even a creation museum. It's utter crap, but it's there.
Oh wait, it's conservapedia.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
