<<Pagan nonsense for a change?>>
I am a devotee of the goddess Athena. I pray to her, I talk to her, I believe in her. And in return she has provided for me. Life has been admittedly rough since I knelt before her, but I have never been without something when I truly needed it.

I gotta say, I have a thing for smart chicks, but isn't going for Athena a little pointless? I mean, the ever-virgin thing like Artemis and all that...
I don't really see anything fundie about this. Granted, it's on Christian Forums, but they do give you the option to list yourself as Pagan, and it's not like Steezie is saying "And Athena told me you're going to buuuuuurn in HAAAAAAAADES for not worshipping her!"

This isn't really fundie, it's just an assertion of faith by a neo-Pagan.
What you need is a quote from one of those fluff-bunny "I cast spells and control the weather!" types. THAT would be fun to tear apart.
[EDIT]
The followup response to the submitted quote is a much better candidate for fundieness. :)
Nick: He's a fundie because he pulled a goddess out of his butt and decided that she among all gods is real.
Bullshit. Athena is thousands of years old. He didn't "pull her out of his butt." Anyone who's religious has made a conscious decision that their deity among all deities is most real, so unless every single religious person is fundie, Steezie isn't either. You need to reread the definition of fundie.
This would be a lot better if he were saying something really fundie. I mean, this is just like standard Christian belief in praying to Jesus, except it's a less popular deity. I'm all for more non-Christian fundies on here, but we need FUNDIES, not people who follow now unpopular religions.
Makes about as much sense as praying/talking to Jesus and believeing that he/"God" provided for you. Granted, chosing Athena is somewhat strange, but a "spirittual (re)awakening" mustn't come from a popular church.
Sides, as an Discordian/Erisian, I can't really criticize him, can I? *chuckle*
Not a fundie. At least until he decides he has to kill Persians.
This girl is a troll, believe me. Otherwise, what´s particularly fundie?Ah yes, the talking part to her. And her cheecky mimic of the fundie rhethoric.
Steezie = fundie?? Roflitis! I am in vehement disagreement with him over things like the death penalty, but I don't see how this---or pretty much anything I've seen him say---is fundie. At all.

ETA: Oh, hello above. I wonder if I'm on FSTDT under my old CF username...*runs off to check*
Nah, the guy is not a fundie. He is religious, to be sure, but not a fundie.
It would be funny if he was, though, I have to agree. Pagan fundie? That would be pretty rare to see. XD
Still, the higher the number of religious people who can be nice, the better. ^_^ Hello Steezie!
Not fundie, statement of belief.
Incidentally, I named a chicken Athena after the Goddess...I don't know why. But it suited her.
This...is pretty moderate, I should think. He believes in a deity, and that the deity is a provider, but that just makes him religious. Perhaps I'm not seeing something.
Doesn't seem too fundie, but it's strange that it's from a Christian site.
I mean, "not too fundie" as in "this isn't Athena threatening to smite people down for monotheism" or anything like that.
Dammit, stop disappointing me! This isn't all that fundy. I don't see him saying, "Athena told me to kill you because you're not worshiping her" or something.
BTW, it appears Steezie has left the board. Good for him (her?).
Just a minute,
If he'd said:-
I am a devotee of the goddess God (or Allah etc). I pray to him, I talk to him, I believe in him. And in return he has provided for me. Life has been admittedly rough since I knelt before him, but I have never been without something when I truly needed it.
Then there'd be nothing remarkable about it.
So why's it fundie? Or do you have a problem with pagans?
Why is this still up here after 4 years? It seems the majority of commenters here see nothing fundy about it, and I happen to agree.
Strange, yes, but no stranger than substituting "Athena" for "God," "Jesus," or "Allah."
Yeah, replace 'Athena' with 'Jesus', and you would get a basically mainstream religious statement. Which may be silly, of course, but it's not particularly noteworthy.
Confused?
