One needs to evaluate the scientific evidence with the bible in one hand, the text book in the other.
Axiom: The Bible is true
Therefore: Scientific evidence that is accurate will conform to the Bible
Therefore: our scientific research needs to ocus on theories that reconcile the observed evidence with Biblical teaching.
No conflict required

Erroneous assumptions lead to incorrect analysis of available data and inaccurate conclusions.
The problem with facts contradicting the Bible exists because of the erroneous assumption the Bible is inerrant.
Once that assumption is dropped a better understanding of science and the universe around us emerges.
The Bible was written by Bronze Age tribesmen with no knowledge of earth sciences, as such it is worthless as a textbook for anything.
But: statements in the bible disagree with observeable reality.
Thus: Contradiction!
Therefore (part 1): The axiom "The Bible is true" must be false, because it leads to a contradiction.
Therefore (part 2): because anything can be proven from a contradiciton, if the Bible is true, then God is simultaniously an invisible pink unicorn and the Flying Spaghetti Monster.
Isn't logic fun?
I'm sorry, that's not the Bible in one hand and textbooks in the other; that's the Bible in both hands being used to hammer a stack of textbooks sitting on the desk. There's no balance there. You're giving all the discretionary power to the Bible, and then shoe-horning science into this mold that the Good Book provides.
"Therefore: our scientific research needs to ocus on theories that reconcile the observed evidence with Biblical teaching."
Like the Templeton study on the effects of intercessary prayer?
Sure, test whatever theories you like, but those damn results just never seem to cooperate do they?
Since Bibles hadn´t supplied knowledge to build internet or this computer or all the tech, not just now, but from the Bronze Age onwards, I find your statement inconsistent and culturally motivated.
Yes, when you start out with an assumption that, for no logical reason, you insist is true, you can make anything that follows fit it.
The whole thing falls apart with the axiom he uses. The bible is only as true as the myths it is based on, but as myths are, by definition, 'not true' then the bible is not true.
Yeah, with the exception that Axioms are supposed to represent truth.
Saying it's true don't make it so.
The Swedish Wikipedia says you can sometimes equate axiom with theory.
Kind of invalidates the "It's only a theory" argument, when you use the Axiom as The Truth of All Truths.
The Bible contradicts even itself; there's no trusting it, at all.
And, it's one of the most repetitive, boring texts I have ever read, which I discovered after checking Women in the Bible .
Chapter and verse where computers are mentioned in the Bible, or GET OFF THE INTERNET, NOW!!!
You cannot do science if you already know the outcome. It defeats the very purpose of science.
If they do the research, and the evidence does not gel with your storybook, then it means that the storybook is WRONG!
Try this , take a bible in one hand and a textbook in the other, good, you have it, yes they are heavy.
What are you turning pages with, hmmm ?
Nose is correct ! thanks for playing

The above was calculated with as near as dammit mathematical precision by the ancient Greeks; they were even able to determine that the Earth was spherical . The Bible says Pi = exactly 3.
PROTIP: That's ancient Greeks. As in BCE . Y'know. Before the Bible was written.
Now go and stand in front of a moving steamroller, HexenHammer. I'm sure there'll be no conflict between it and you, seeing as - according to the Bible - the Wheel is a Biblically-proven lie , and therefore can never exist...! >:D
If 'faith can move mountains', then your faith in Biblical fact will ensure nothing will happen to you.
...or don't you have enough faith in your 'faith' to do that...?!
Lets say the earth is flat.
Therefore, I can see the USA from here (Germany).
But the Earth is not flat, so however logical your reasoning may be, with a wrong axiom your thesis will not have logic backing it. It may still be right, but not because of what you just said.
And the bible is not true, nor should science try to find proof of it's truth, because it is futile.
Axiom: The bible is true
Therefore: Forget the science stuff, the bible should agree with simple observation.
Therefore: It shouldn't be necessary to come up with convoluted apologetic arguments to explain the apparent contradictions between the bible and reality.
(Er, scratch that...)
Axiom: The bible is true
Therefore: Forget observation, the bible should at least agree with itself!
Therefore: It shouldn't be necessary to come up with convoluted apologetic arguments to explain the apparent contradictions between different parts of the bible.
(Er, scratch that too...)
Confused?
