"Pregnant" is the definiton of "female" or "woman."

I'd like to clarify why I submitted this. One of the definitions of fundamentalism is 'strict adherence to any set of basic ideas or principles.' [http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fundamentalism] You don't need to be religious to be fundamentalist. You just need to strictly adhere to your ideology, whatever it may be. Further, the FSTDT home page says nothing about the quotes having to be religious in nature. Only 'hilarious, bizarre, ignorant, bigoted, and terrifying.' This quote is certainly bigoted.

I agree that the 'pregnant man' is not a male in terms of biological sex, but in his chosen gender. I respect that. I will even say that I accept it.

One last note before I leave. I find it horribly ironic that Bob is telling people that they need to go back to first grade to learn basic word definitions, proceeds to misunderstand the meaning of pregnant, and misspell 'greade.' [Although it is possibly a typo.]

Fundy quote aside, the individual in question should not have done this. After taking the male hormones, the uterus could be damaged affecting the health of the child. Also, it would be taxing on the psyche, I mean, he tried to be a man but ended up doing something that is at the moment female only. The hormones in pregnancy alone will affect the individuals mind.

It is understandable that he didn't get the genital surgery done. FTM is really expensive, hella invasive, and the results are not up to par.

Wonder why FTM is so rare though, there seem to be a lot more things that go wrong prenatally that cause the fetus to develop female in what "should have been" male.

Ceiling Cat- Most FTMs don't do bottom surgery. The reasons why are this:

1. It costs a fucking fortune and

2. creates utterly unconvincing-looking and non-functional male anatomy.

By contrast, MTF bottom surgery is much more reasonable in cost, especially if one looks overseas, much more routine and less invasive, and creates a passably normal looking vagina.

My understanding was that the gentleman in question's female partner was unable to conceive, so this was Plan B for starting a family. For somebody who'se finally living in a male body to match his mind to sacrifice that maleness and do something as female as getting pregnant, and then live in a body that's always going to be changed and more obviously female for the experience (hips, stretch marks, saggy tits, etc) I really think that's a special act of sacrifice and love for his partner.

While I feel the "pregnant man" saga is sensationalist hyperbole, this is just offensive. Thomas Beattie (I assume this is the person in question since I know of no other who has been in the news) is a FtM transexual who kept the plumbing and is having a baby because his partner is unable to. I cannot understand why it's treated as a freakshow. I thought we'd progressed past the Victorian era in which everybody not fitting strict gender roles were considered unusual or unwell.

That aside, Bob is still an ass. He is the one who fails biology if he thinks it's healthy for any woman to be squeezing out babies constantly from puberty till fucking menopause. The definition of female describes those who are physically female, not those who are pregnant. If we applied that logic, if at any point a woman is not pregnant she is not a "real" woman, despite the damned obvious, her chromosomes and genitalia.

By the way, it's spelt "first", "fourth" and "grade". Idiot. Learn the basics yourself before you try to preach to others. In conclusion, STFU and crawl back under your rock.

No, pregnant is defined by wordnet as:

Not once is the word female, or woman, used.

That aside, it is not up to you to decide what is right for another person.

Personally, I don't believe the man in question is actually a man; he never completed the surgery and kept all female organs. I do not agree with the decision their family made and I think it opens up way too many cans of worms and all that. Technically, a woman is pregnant, not a man. A woman taking hormones; a woman living as though she were a man, but a woman none the less.

But, that aside, I can't judge and don't. I'm not them, I'm not in their position, I do not live their life.
