You all see my signature! [Senator Paul] Wellstone’s assassination was what woke me up from the matrix. He was a friend of mine, and my state senator. He was a close friend of some of my family. He was one of the true great politicians would stood up for the little guy and always did what was right.
Here are some of the facts about this case which scream conspiracy:
FBI was dispatched from the twin cities to go to northern MN by the then Gov. Norm Coleman (Wellstone’s Senate race opponent) hours before Wellstone's plane even left for its destination.
FBI was already on the scene in a remote wooded area before the very first responders could get there.
The cover story says that the weather was poor and icing was likely a factor. Well search planes with less icing protection than the Beechcraft 100 that crashed were up looking for the rash site in the same weather and reported good conditions and no icing.
The crashed aircraft had evidence of massive electrical fire, yet the fuel in the wings never ignited and the tanks were intact at the crash site.
Locals in the area reported massive electrical disturbances around the time of the crash which may suggest the use of some type of electrical bomb or beam used to bring down the aircraft.

Bollox: What does F usually stand for?
Meanwhile, some of this may be far-fetched, but Senator Wellstone's death was just too convenient for a Bush administration Hell-bent on elective war with Iraq.

Because weather never, ever changes. Besides, in the next sentence you say the aircraft had an electrical fire.

Because we all know that every single time an aircraft crashes, it must explode into a huge, hollywood-style fireball.

The most important part of any good conspiracy theory is that ultra-secret technology the government has which can change the laws of physics.
Actually, if anyone would just read the wikipedia article about Paul Wellstone, they'd see that the most likely cause of the crash was a pilot with substandard piloting skills and poor eyesight, and a co-pilot who had been fired from two previous jobs as a pilot for poor performance and had to constantly be reminded to keep his throttle up upon approach so he wouldn't stall. But I guess that doesn't sound as cool and sinister as some kind of invisible energy beam weapon and a government coverup.
Being the supposed friend of a Senator doe not, apparently, give one any knowledge of air crash investigation. Who's have thought?
Here's a hint, Sparky: a massive electrical fire in the cabin probably wouldn't ignite fuel in the wings.
Another hint: Flying through a cloud can create enough icing to bring even an airliner down, and clouds, you know, move or go away. A King Air 100 (aka his Beech 100) is pretty small potatoes, and if the de-icing system wasn't turned on in time (it's manual in that aircraft) the plane is a goner.

Here's a link to the actual NTSB report on the crash:

Yeah. you're pretty much completely wrong, there.
@ Reynardine:
The F in FBI... stands for Federal. The states have no authority over it.
As for "AllSeeingI" here, I hope he will excuse me if I doubt that he was ever friends with a Senator. After all, he frequents conspiracy websites. How influential could he be?
AllSeeingI, it's a shame that a man who seemed to be a fairly decent human being died in an accident.
You do his memory no favours with this conspiracy theory drivel.
"He was a friend of mine" = "I'm a crazy nutjob who constantly wrote random, incoherent letters full of babble to my state senator, and I think the reply form letters that are sent by his office are written directly by him."
@Reynardine: Once you start thinking things are "too convenient", step back and look at the bigger picture. Senator Wellstone was one man. One man, in the long run, means absolutely nothing. Why would the administration risk blowing their cover to kill one man when they had a good portion of the Senate already on their side?
As for AllSeeingI, I'm a Minnesotan. Weather here changes like a drug dealer's phone number.
Sorry, True, but too many things happen that were "too convenient". I'm not in the deathray camp, here, but when investigating a death for possible homicide, what you look for is motive, means, and opportunity. The first two were certainly present.
No, I'm not in the MIHOP camp, but I can't rule out human agency.
@Reynardine
When the war resolution passed in 2002 (IIRC), the Democrats controlled the Senate. His vote against it wouldn't have made a difference. There goes your motive theory. Also, you have not identified any credible means by which he would have been killed. To me, the idea he was murdered just doesn't work.
Json: the motive was there. Senator Wellstone was being most eloquent just before the 2002 election, and I remember clearly that NBC was forced to cancel an appearance by him. The means needed be no more high tech than the light application of a pair of wirestrippers. Am I saying it for sure was? No, I am saying don't be too damn sure it wasn't. The Republicans villified his funeral service thoroughly, and so gained more seats.
Confused?
