Well, there is this guy named Stephen Hawking. His theories about black holes are truly groundbreaking and have advanced our understanding of how the Universe operates.

A New cure?

Completion of the Human Genome Project.
Cloning.
Stem cell research.
Evaporation of black holes due to creation and incomplete destruction of virtual particles at the event horizon boundary.
Recent (witin the last 4 months) regeneration of a missing finger.
Water-based ice on Mars.
Ion engine recently tested at full throttle for 24 hours--total fuel consumption approximately 12 oz. (about as much as can of Coke).

We'd keep getting smarter, smarter and more powerful. We are getting smarter. We're not getting more powerful, physically, because we don't need to, we have these things called machines for the heavy work.

Graduation rates decrease. True, because the level of knowledge required to graduate has increased.

And most of what we pay is tax. They don't need to tax it,,, they make profit from us. Oh and if you think $4 a gallon is expensive, check out the price in the UK.
