[Discussing the Bill Maher film, Religulous]
Well, you can't blame them for making fun of us Christians. You can’t make fun of the Jews (that would show clearly that you were a Nazi) and you can't make fun of the Blacks. That would make you a white supremicist (Nazi). So, they HAVE to make fun of someone, so they do. That's what they do. It defines them. They feel Christians are stupid, and they are smart. We are undermenshen. That is a term made popular by Nazis during the second world war and it is German for under men. These Undermenshen included Jews, Russians, Slavs, and anyone who wasn't ARyan.
Hitler spent a lot of time kissing up to certain Christian leaders. After all, his army was mostly Christian and he needed to have his soldiers follow him. But, privately (and we have proof of this) he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man.
Michael Medved, a jewish film critic, speaking about how Hollywood depictions of Christians, said that he hasn't seen any persecution that was similar to this since Hitler made films about the Jews in the 1940s.

Pie chart, anyone?
Also: Godwin's law.
Okay, where's the pit of hungry crocodiles? Godwin!
BTW the Jewish religion gets made fun of -in fact I can't think of a religion that is off limits to criticism. Ethnicities, not so much because ethnic inheritance is not chosen. It would be very poor form to make fun of someone because they have more melatonin or other easily identifiable physical characteristic.
As far as Medved and Hitler, laughing at dumb ideas is not even close to Nazism. If non-Christians can take the heat from blow hard Christians, I'm sure your skin is thick enough to handle the same treatment.

Yep... because all the nasty stuff couldn't be done without the majority Christian Germans getting it done...
But, privately (and we have proof of this) he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man.
And you think that maybe the fact that all those Christians let themselves be talked into commiting some of the most horrendous crimes against humanity in all history, talked into doing their "Christian Duty" no less, doesn't give people the idea that Christianity is nothing more than a cruel joke??
Your belief got used and you fell for it... that makes it a fucking joke, and one that makes people sick.
But, privately (and we have proof of this) he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man.
Your pants must be smoking something awful, right about now.
"Well, you can't blame them for making fun of us Christians."
Thank you for understanding.
"They feel Christians are stupid, and they are smart."
Not always, but, generally, yes.
"Hitler spent a lot of time kissing up to certain Christian leaders. After all, his army was mostly Christian and he needed to have his soldiers follow him. But, privately (and we have proof of this) he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man."
How is it that you are privy to what Hitler privately thought?
"Michael Medved, a jewish film critic, speaking about how Hollywood depictions of Christians, said that he hasn't seen any persecution that was similar to this since Hitler made films about the Jews in the 1940s."
Michael Medved is an idiot and an a**.
First sentence is perfect. Unfortunately, he went into massive HISTORICAL FAIL (with a Godwin!), and finished with a spelling and foreign-language fail. (It's "uentermenschen"... um, that's supposed to be a "U" with the double-dots over it.) Continues with more failure, related to Hitler and his religion (he was, in fact, a Christian).
Aw, hell, it's a massive, steaming pile of FAIL all around.
@#756617 -- Fix'd your image post.

"They feel Christians are stupid, and they are smart."
That happens when christians talk about Obama worshipping chickens.
Maher isn't making fun of Christians. He's making fun of the small minority of Christians who are holier-than-thou, judgmental, hypocritical, hate-filled lunatic fringe fundamentalist bigots.
"But, privately (and we have proof of this) he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man."
No, privately he thought what he was doing was God's work. He wrote as much himself, iirc.
Open letter to fundamentalist fuckwits:
Please stop trying to use words in other languages in the vain attempt to look smart until you finally learn to write in your first language in a way that no longer resembles the crayon scribblings of a special education kindergartener.
Many thanks,
LM
"But, privately (and we have proof of this) he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man."
Try reading Mein Kampf some time. Or various documents from those who spent the most time with him in a personal sense. You'll find he was far from thinking Christianity was a joke. In fact, he believed he was doing your god's work.
"You can’t make fun of the Jews"
Yes you can, South Park and Family Guy do it all the time.
"But, privately (and we have proof of this) he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man. "
No, Hitler states several times that he was christian and that he believed it was god's will for him to kill the jews.
"he hasn't seen any persecution that was similar to this since Hitler made films about the Jews in the 1940s. "
A film making fun of Christ does not equal actuall footage from concetration camps showing nazi's tourturing jews to death.
There is so much fail in this post, that I'm going to cherry-pick my faves...
and you can't make fun of the Blacks.
Being black is a religion now?
[Hitler] felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man.
Being half Polish myself, I would have never in a million years though that I would agree with Hitler on anything.
But...
Did Maher also poke fun at Jews and Muslims too? I don't know, won't know till this weekend.
Anyway, Christianity is probably most poked fun at because (a) the crew won't need to fly overseas for it, (b) so many weird and retarded interpretations have popped up in America, (c) The film is aimed at an American audience, albeit an atheist/agnostic section.
and anyone who wasn't ARyan.
"Only people named Ryan can join my club."
I make fun of people of all religions, save for Buddhists -- mostly because Buddhists are awesome. I tend to focus on the Abrahamic God, however, since his followers tend to be the dumbest. And yes, that includes Jews (religious Jews, not ethnic Jews) and Muslims along with Christians. Thing is, Jews are generally more moderate in their beliefs than Christians, and Muslim extremists are usually scary, not amusing. Christian fundies, on the other hand, are one big bag of endless lulz.
You can make fun of any religions.
Well maybe not the Cult of Scientology, because you might get sued. But they don't count anyway :p
"Your belief got used and you fell for it... that makes it a fucking joke, and one that makes people sick."
A fair point - but you have to remember Dietrich Bonhoeffer et al as well and also the endless agnostics and atheists who did nothing, or we're just as guilty of revisionism.....
"You can’t make fun of the Jews"
Yes you can. You can make fun of muslims, hindus and atheists too.
you can't make fun of the Blacks
Yes you can. See Jews. You may also make fun of white people, asian people, and native Brazilian people.
You can even make fun of hitler if you want. Not because he's a very naughty man or anything like that, but because it is funny .
You can't make fun of blacks because they're a race. But you can make fun of Christianity and Judaism for being silly religions.
Like, eating your savior? Not starting a fire on Saturday? like wtf lolz.
But, privately (and we have proof of this) he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man.
Feel free to provide that evidence.

Privately, we have proof of Hitler experiencing divine revelations and burning Darwin's books. You fail.
Also, why do the Fundies bitch and bitch about Religulous, but Expelled was some kind of revolution of cinema to them? I mean, they kept going "Evolutionists just don't want people to see the TRUTH!" whenever we insulted it, and now look at them.
he felt that Christianity was the biggest joke ever played on man.
We don't actually know that. Hitler made so many contradictory statements about religion that we have no way of knowing what, if anything, he actually believed.
And you are not persecuted, discriminated or otherwise put upon in any way, shape or form.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
