Fuck that, I think goverment should make abortion illegal. And if they won't, then the goverment needs to be destroyed. Make equal oppurtunity murder. If people want to abort the child, then they should have to risk being killed themself by clinic bombers. That's fair and reasonable. Survival of the fittest. The strong and lucky decide what is and isn't acceptable, but only to the point of thier own survival will allow.

If I have to stomache being told what to do and pay taxes, I damn well be better getting something in return. And all I want is illegalized abortions and more sexual regulations. If the goverment can't give me that, then I see no reason to allow the goverment to exsist.

1. YOU aren't the only taxpayer ever. In fact, why don't you just stop paying taxes? You wouldn't have to support the government, and I might get the satisfaction of finding out you ended up in jail.
2. Since you aren't the only person keeping the government funded, you do not get to dictate everyone else's lives. Part of paying taxes is having protection of your rights guaranteed. I have the right to do with my body what I choose, and I don't appreciate being told when I can have sex and how I can have sex and who I can have it with. There is no point in having sexual regulations. NONE. People are still going to have sex how they want, with whoever they want (so long as they have consent), and if they get caught doing something you've deemed immoral and made illegal, you'd be sending them to jail for a consensual act that doesn't hurt anybody. It doesn't hurt you, and it doesn't hurt your kids.

Fuck that, I think the government should make safe, medical abortions legal and free. "And if they won't, then the goverment needs to be destroyed." Geeze, Spider, take a chill pill and calm down. You don't get to determine these things for others, society does that as a whole, and it just pisses you the hell off that society as a whole doesn't agree with you, doesn't it? By the way, "survival of the fittest?" That's Darwinism, and between the mother and the cytoplast or zygote? The mother is technically the more "fit to live," since that little clump of cells would be incapable of being anything other than a quick snack for any passing squirrel if it wasn't for the mother... And if I may offer an observation? Prohibition and the current "war on drugs" make it abundantly clear that criminalizing something does not make it go away. Studies have shown that the number of abortions performed in the United States did not, in fact, significantly go up after Roe v. Wade. The survival rate of the mothers, however, did go up. But I bet that pisses you off, too, doesn't it?

@X: Sedition is illegal now? That must have been a Patriot Act thing, 'cause I'm pretty sure that was the primary focus of the First Amendment...

I don't like what SJ said, but I think Jefferson would be upset to know sedition was an offense in America.

I have heard almost this argument - without the terrorist threats - used to argue for universal healthcare. "I pay taxes already; the least the government can do is make sure I don't die of influenza." It makes more sense then though, as healthcare actually helps everybody and is economically sound, unlike sexual regulations and abortion prohibition, which just increase risk and oppress people.

It's just strange that he's right in a way - the government does owe the public, and paying taxes does entitle you to a return in security, services, access to infrastructure, etc. - but so wrong apart from that.

Maybe I'm just more sympathetic because I'm an anarchist :)

But seriously bro, suck it up. The government has neither the right nor the ability to regulate people's sex lives. American conservatives say the left is "entitled", but look at this guy.

And Jason, the FBI operates programs similar to the infamous COINTELPRO to this day. They regulate groups they deem subversive for any signs of militant or violent tactics. Don't worry though, COINTELPRO spent the vast majority of its resources shooting on anti-war protestors, not the right wing radicals who actually commit most domestic terror attacks in the US. Chances are the FBI still does things that way today.
