Why are normies so defensive over the very people who bully them?

There are some normies on this sub (you know who they are) who are your typical run of the mill fedora wearing neckbeard ugly nerd with no life (thus why he spends all his time posting on Reddit). They get no women and get no love. They are oppressed by chads. Why then do they feel the need to defend the chads who bully them or the Stacey's who ignore them? And they defend them with immense passion, to the point of replying to every single incel comment and sub comment, and purposely finding each other's comments to upvote. I can't get my mind around it. Anyone can explain this phenomenon?
