Easter Sermon (2017)
By Brother William H. Grimes
"So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof."- Proberbs 1:9. I have a short sermon on Proverbs 1:9 today.
Commercialized holidays are a problem in the West. Easter Sunday is less important to "Christians" than Christmas, and Christmas is a way for corporations to make money off Jesus' birth. Jesus wasn't even born in December, and celebrating the birth of Christ in December is because of Romanist papist heretics and their desire to celebrate the pagan winter solstice as Christians pay big bucks to get the latest iPhone or Nintendo or whatever else is "hot" in consumerist culture. Christ has commanded us to be POOR IN SPIRIT and not trying to "one up" our peers by having the latest gizmos.
Easter is another unnecessary and unbiblical holiday that has nothing to do with the passion, crucifixion, and resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. It's the holidays of Peeps and chocolate and unholy relations outside of marriage because "Easter" is a pagan ritual of fertility and the papists have tried to tie this into the resurrection of Christ! We are going about having more commercialism and greed! God commanded that we are poor in spirit!
Therefore, my call for you Christians is to stop celebrating "Easter" and "Christmas" because they are PAGAN RITUALS! Stay at home or go to a church that doesn't engage in such papist heresies as "Easter!" It's time to starve the beast and have this country celebrate God instead of fertility! Jesus never had eggs, but fertility celebrants sure do! If Christians stand up and celebrate and preach the passion, crucifixion, and resurrection of Our Lord on another day we will defeat Romanist popery!
