Don'y forget that everything is a miracle. we breath, that is a miracle. We die, that is a miracle.
Wasn't the whole idea behind a miracle that it is an event going against all odds? Isn't dying in a car crash rather mundane?
Why is God such a douchebag, Jessica? Can you answer that one? Seriously, this "mysterious ways" shit really pisses me off. It's a complete cop-out. After the fact, it's perfectly acceptable to say that God did it because he wanted to do it that way, and there's no arguing otherwise. God loves all of his children, but he has no problem making some of them die horrible deaths if it'll teach the rest of the population a lesson that has yet to be revealed to them.
Jessica: God can you make the Red Sea part for me?
(silence)
Jessica: God, can you turn water into wine for me?
(silence)
Jessica: God, can you make a lightning bolt strike for me?
(silence)
Jessica: God, can you end world hunger for me?
(nothing)
Jessica: God, can you feed that one homeless person right there?
(nothing)
Jessica: God, can you at least make a few filthy crumbs appear for that one homeless person right there?
(nothing)
Jessica: God, can you do something at all to help that poor homeless person right there?
(nothing)
Jessica: God, can you give me a sign so I know you're here?
(nothing)
Jessica: God ignores me. (walks away dejectedly)
an hour later-
(A car crashes. The driver and one passenger are killed. One passenger survives.)
Jessica: Hey! It's a miracle! I guess God exists after all!
See, you have to understand that car crashes, crazy murderers, and cancer are all "God working in mysterious ways",
but abortions are "GOING AGAINST GOD'S WILL".
Let's try that again.
"When someone is saved from certain death by a strange concatenation of circumstances, they say that's a miracle. But, of course, if someone is killed by a freak chain of events - the oil spilled just there, the safety fence broken just there - that must also be a miracle. Just because it's not nice doesn't mean it's not miraculous"
The more convoluted the better.
(Who could design a better mousetrap than god?)
ts just like you said: people die and survive car crashes everyday... God works in both..
Wait, so it's a miracle either way? And they say there are no miracles these days.
Confused?
