The issue is the gay agenda. The media has picked up on 'civil rights' aspect and are running with it. It is most definitely not a civil rights kind of problem. It is a lifestyle choice much like smoking cigarettes.
They are allowed in the door, they are allowed to attend church. But if they flaunt it, bring in a partner, that sort of thing, they will likely be asked to repent and if the church offers counseling, they will probably be assisted in counseling to help them learn how God can help them overcome. God doesn't wink at sin and a good, bible believing church doesn't overlook it either.

Good times. Good times.
It is most definitely not a civil rights kind of problem. It is a lifestyle choice much like smoking cigarettes.
Which is far more dangerous than loving another guy and marrying him, but still legal.
So. Much. Bullshit.
The issue is the fundy agenda. The media has picked up on 'civil rights' aspect and are running with it. It is most definitely not a civil rights kind of problem. It is a lifestyle choice much like smoking cigarettes.
They are allowed in the door, they are allowed to attend university. But if they flaunt it, tell their biology professors that evolution is bunk, that sort of thing, they will likely be asked to study the material harder and if the university offers tutoring, they will probably be assisted in tutoring to help them learn how reason can help them overcome. Reason doesn't wink at nonsense and a good, reality-based university doesn't overlook it either.
"It [being gay] is most definitely not a civil rights kind of problem. It is a lifestyle choice much like smoking."
Oh, indeed. I smoke twenty fags a day.
"Fags", geddit? Fags, gays? Fags, cigarettes? Geddit . . . ? Anyone?
Hmph. You have no humour.
"It is most definitely not a civil rights kind of problem."
ORLY?
"It is a lifestyle choice much like smoking cigarettes."
...or having heterosexual sex (?).
"they are allowed to attend church."
Yes. Along as they lie about who they are, and sit silently while the preacher and his congregation babble mindlessly about how evil it is to stick penises into the wrong hole. Or, more recently, about the evils of kissing a girl, and liking it.
"God doesn't wink at sin and a good, bible believing church doesn't overlook it either."
A zombie rabbi once said, in a book that one of his drunken followers scrawled onto the back of a placemat 30 years after the fact: "Judge not lest ye be judged. Unless you've got mob rule on your side, in which case you're pretty much free to judge people at your leisure. Go nuts."
And the Church of the Pitchfolk-Wielding Morality Police have remained true to his teachings ever since...
A life-style choice? Like smoking cigarettes.
'Hey, psst, Jake! You ever try gay sex?'
'Well, hell, no. Mom always told me not to.'
'Aw, you don't want to listen to her. You gonna spend your life doing it with girls?'
'Well...I guess I thought I would....'
'But Jake! Girls - they don't really like sex. Boys love it, though. Believe me, you'll get much more action if you go for guys.'
'Yeah but - girls kind of have bigger boobs. And that thing between a guys legs must get in the way...'
'Hey! Are you cool, or are you not cool.'
'Aw okay....'
Yeah. Yeah, that's right. That's how it is.
So civil rights is evil?
DIAF.
God doesn't wink at sin and a good, bible believing church doesn't overlook it either.
Why not? Didn't Jesus say "They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick"? Even if a church condemns homosexuality, why would they exclude gays?
"It is a lifestyle choice much like smoking cigarettes."
<slackjawed>You are the definition of a stupid fuck! Cigarettes cause cancer, with REAL science, you know, the REAL medical knowledge that let dimwits like you live over the age of 20 without dying of a preventable infectious disease. Gay sex by itself cannot cause any medical condition I'm aware of, any more than hetero sex. If it does, you're doing it wrong, I will grant you that much.
This reminds me of the Catholic Church 'caring' so much about Africa's poor that it counsels them not to use condoms because they cause disease, not prevent it.
"they will likely be asked to repent and if the church offers counseling, they will probably be assisted in counseling to help them learn how God can help them overcome"
Electrotherapy, antibiotics, prayer, and bloodletting can all cure it.
"good, bible believing church"
If a church believes in biblical literalism it CANNOT be good. Period. Doesn't mean the people in it can't be good, but if they are, they are good DESPITE the teachings of the church, because they are better than their church.
No it wouldn't.
Only straight Christians would have the gall to believe that we would want to be treated the way we are.
Funny how something you would demand to do for yourself, bringing your partner/spouse with you, is "flaunting it."
Grow the fuck up, fundie.
"It is a lifestyle choice much like smoking cigarettes."
Much? Bigotry is EXACTLY like smoking! I mean, it's disgusting, repulsive, and makes everyone around you hate you.
Though admittedly bigotry won't ruin your teeth or lungs.
People just might, though.
Wherever two or three of you are gathered together in My name, judge others, damn them to hell, curse them, make their fucking lives a misery etc, etc. (The Fundy Belief).
Now please, please pass me a copy of this Agenda. I want to see what's up for discussion.
It is most definitely not a civil rights kind of problem. It is a lifestyle choice much like smoking cigarettes.
Ignoring the fact that being gay isn't a choice for a second, civil rights has everything to do with protecting a person's right to live their life in whatever fashion they see fit, so long as they aren't hurting anyone else.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
