[In response to link to wikipedia article which states the earliest known inhabitants of the area currently called Israel and Judah were Mousterian Neanderthals]
So are they claiming that the father of Abraham, was a neanderthal? Is that when the first Jew popped out of a neanderthal? And you guys think Christians are irrational? Sorry, but no ancient people can document that the father of Abraham was a neanderthal That is as made up as the notion that the fathers of the first humans were aliens. Don't you find it odd that no ancient people have ever talked about anyone's father being a neanderthal? That is totally absent in any history. Why do you think that is?

"So are they claiming that the father of Abraham, was a neanderthal?"
No, this is just another piece of evidence showing that the stories in the Bible are largely fiction.
"Is that when the first Jew popped out of a neanderthal?"
Nobody with more than two brains cells is making such an absurd assertion.
"And you guys think Christians are irrational?"
Yes, yes I do. None of us atheists are claiming that the first Jew popped out of a neanderthal. We are also not claiming that a god made the universe in 6 days, nor that a god had his son murdered to atone for everyone's bad behavior, nor that heaven and hell exist, etc..
"Sorry, but no ancient people can document that the father of Abraham was a neanderthal"
Of course not. Neanderthals have been shown to have existed, that Abraham ever actually existed is in serious doubt.
"That is as made up as the notion that the fathers of the first humans were aliens."
I agree that the "alien theory" is unproven and quite unlikely.

Being that neanderthals were probably not directly related to homo sapiens and that written language wasn't developed until well past the demise of the neanderthals, no, I don't find that odd.
Stop making up nonsense and demanding others to defend it.
No one said any goddamned thing about Abraham, his father, his uncle, or his monkey-humping half-cousin with an overbite and six toes!

That is as made up as the notion that the fathers of the first humans were aliens.
Quite so! The Celestials merely fiddled with our genes.
I think you have been sucking on a crack pipe for too long,
The earlyest hominid fossils in the messopotamian region are indeed neandertal remains,
Nobody is claiming that the father of abraham was a neandertal, or the father of fred , or the father of billy ,,,,,,
And nobody is suggesting that the first jew ever "popped out of" a neandertal,
Indeed the last neandertal died about 30,000 years befor the first Hints of the jewish cult came into being.
You obviously know less than nothing about hominid evolution, Or about history.
Please keep both your hands firmly on your crack pipe from now on.
So are they claiming that the father of Abraham, was a neanderthal?
Actually, no, they're not. Do you even know what Neanderthals were?
Because Neanderthals weren't called that until the last couple hundred years?
Because no one alive all during the time the Old Testament was being composed and eventually written down had ever seen a Neanderthal or much evidence that they had ever existed?
And I refute your claim that it's in no history. Plenty of history books deal with the Neanderthals, who were bipedal upright mammals very similar to us H. sapiens . So it seems logical that every Neanderthal's father was a Neanderthal; what' less certain is that any Homo sapiens had Neanderthal genes in its family tree.
I tried to think up something funny with the GEICO commercials, but I don't find them very funny in the first place anyway.

Dear Diary,
Today I found out my dad is a Neanderthal. I might just kill myself, this is so horrible.
-Abraham.
Well, maybe he was. Or maybe the father of his father. After all, where did Sara come from?, and where the Caldees, with whom he learnt the facts of life?
Ok, if you're gonna use a religous argument here, that's fine, but check your fucking sources first. Aberham was born, and lived a good portion of his life in the city of Ur, which is in what is now Iran. seriously, stop being an ignorant putz.
city of Ur, which is in what is now Iran.
Iraq, actually.
Incidentally, Carico can't even get the Wholly Babble right - Abraham wasn't a Jew.
So are they claiming that the father of Abraham, was a neanderthal?
Nobody is claiming any such thing of Abraham, since he is a fictional character in a collection of mythologies.
Don't you find it odd that no ancient people have ever talked about anyone's father being a neanderthal?
Don't you find it odd that no Native American recorded that their ancestors were Asian? I mean, given that they had no written history and what we know of their culture comes from stories written hundreds of years after certain events it's amazing that they didn't do that.
Toga -- I think it's more like this:

As so many have already pointed out, Neanderthals are real and Abraham seems to be fiction; certainly he has none of the concrete evidence that attest to the existence of Neanderthals. The only evidence for Abraham is written in books of mythology, which fundies find much more compelling than fossils or other physical remains. But then, fundies cling to mythology like drowning people cling to life rafts.
And Carico, that bit about Jews "popping out" of Neanderthals reads suspiciously like anti-Semitism. Stop it.
"So are they claiming that the father of Abraham, was a neanderthal? Is that when the first Jew popped out of a neanderthal? And you guys think Christians are irrational?"
And you guys think non-fundies are wrong? Where did you get this idea, if not out of your ass?
Homo sapiens and Neanderthals are both hominids and descended from the same ancestors. But Homo sapiens was better at adapting and the Neanderthals died out (some interbreeding has been speculated upon). Ergo, Abraham was a Homo sapiens, so all of your statements are incorrect.
BTW: Carico, for proof that Neanderthals did breed with Homo sapiens, look in the mirror.
Nobody claimed that Abraham's father (his name was Terah, by the way), was a Neanderthal. The Neanderthals disappeared for rather unclear reasons around 35,000 BC, while Abraham was born sometime around (I think) 2100 BC, when modern humans had already become widespread. And as pointed out earlier, Abraham was not originally from Israel; he lived in Ur near the Persian Gulf before traveling there. And actually, Terah never even made it to Israel; he died in Haran, part of present-day Syria.
Confused?
