Going to be rather quiet for a bit as the work I have to do is largely grunt work on things I've already mentioned. Might do some bitching about things that annoy me or sing the praises of D&D's 5th edition to fill space, but site wise not a lot for a while. Beyond just having grunt work to do, I also have a major project at work that uses a lot of the same technology, so I'm more focused on what gets me paid than what makes managing this place easier. However, knowing what the hell I'm doing ought to make sure what comes out of the site re-working is considerably better than it otherwise would have been.

I'll take Navaros with God's holy and righteous penis.
@His4life: It's just a game, no monsterous ghoul is going to spontaneously generate whilst someone plays D & D. The D & D board is not a teleporter to another dimension, as cool as that may be.
Edit: If you're joking I do apologise.

D&D is an invention from the 1970s which is alive and well to this day.
And will still be, when Tard4Life won't be so much as a footnote in history, and her memory will be just as dead as she'll be. An 'Afterlife'? That which is ass erted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence, and all that jazz. >:D
After all, dearie:

But, if we got rid of the demons we'd be stuck murdering Orcs for twenty levels.
@JeanP
But of course. How do you think the Flight spell works?
Yes, D&D as in Dungeons and Dragons. I find the idea of a world where gods actually exist remarkably interesting.
For everyone else, this edition they actually released the basic rules free in a PDF, Here:

I have the players manual and I've been reading over it. The other two big books should be out by December, but frankly you can play with the 20 dollar set they have out(which is awesome). But if yall are interested I might be convinced to play a game. Need to figure out where to play though.
But in the quick review, it's simpler than 3rd. Less fiddly than prior to that and kept the approximately three good things about 4th. Lots of mechanics unified or generally simplified, but works well for a fantasy game. You can pick up the gist of it from the free PDF. The other books are just adding in more options.
@Distind
OH! I totally forgot that they were planning on releasing that for free. I'll take that, thank you very much.
I approve of this idea of site-wide D&D session. However, I'm currently limited to AD&D 2E and D&D 4E (soon 3E too, and I still need to read through PHB for 4E) - I'm going to wait a bit before getting 5E books. Errata and prices and all that stuff, you know. Also, there would be a problem of the schedule and timezones because, well, I'm pretty sure not all of us live in middle Europe. (See, one thing I like about Roll20 is that it shows you all times by converting it into your own timezone's time, so you can pretty neatly narrow search results when looking for a new group to join.)
It blows the doors off 4th in my opinion. Though my opinion on 4th was I just canceled my subscription to WoW why would I want to play it slower.
I suggest checking out the basic rules, it's worth the time. And if they strike your fancy remember how deep amazon discounts are. 20 off the PHB, 10 off the module that came out at the same time. You just have to wait a week or two beyond the release to gaming stores.
Right now I'd say getting your feet wet makes the starters set worth it's 20 dollar cost, it comes with some pre-gens, a bound version of the basic rules up to level 5 and a pretty solid sandbox style adventure. Oh, and a set of dice.
The PHB is totally worth it if you're planning on actually playing the game. That's the one thing that'd be an issue with playing this online, there's a lot in there that'd be useful to folks.
The tyranny of dragons module is... so so. If I use it I'll probably be cutting it into chunks and making it less railroady. But it's one of those 'EPIC!' kind of campaigns and I'm mostly interested in ideas to shamelessly steal anyway.
@His4Life
Which concepts would you say? I can see the warlock they added a few editions back qualifying, with the demonic pacts and all, but they seem to have made the demon summoning mostly disappear. Though they have introduced arcane rituals.
So we did get new quotes today. Phew. For a while, I was actually afraid that we'll have to resort to feeding the trolls again.
Oh, I most probably will get 5E PHB sooner or later. DMG and MM too. I decided to buy the core rulebooks of all important D&D editions at one point. Too bad Premium reprints of AD&D 1E rulebooks were limited edition, so it's a bit of a pain in the ass to find them now - they're no longer officially sold by Amazon but only by 3rd parties, so it's either that or eBay.
@Distind
WoW is changing game play again on November 13 with the WoD release. They're introducing garrisons, which (of course) is making the farmers bitch because garrisons will allow you to have up to four manufactoring plants. Of course, they said that about the farms and the high end mats still sell for 30+g each on my realm. And they're changing specs again. Hunters can abandon pets at level 100 in exchange for shot mastery. Good for marksmanship hunters. Not so much for beast masters like my main. Not impressed with Garrosh being the villian of the next xpac too, though. The beta key people are trying to say it will be his father, Grom, who ends up being the end boss.
Still, come on, of the five expansions the horde have been blamed for three of the conflicts(WothLK, the forsaken. MoP, Garrosh is crazy. WoD, Garrosh is still crazy and wants to undo history with his alternate timeline iron horde). The alliance haven't gotten one. Outlands was demons and cata was Deathwing.
Excuse me while I Tauren stomp.

"occult"
...which merely means Hidden .
The 'Mystery' of the Bible. Not open & in plain English: Hidden . Therefore OCCULT. You & your 'religion' FAILS.
'Jesus'. Not exactly returned in all the time the so-called 'End Days' declared by his followers in the last two millennia. Nor so much as a sniff of him today . But he was supposed to have returned in the generation of his first followers, thus he's Hidden . Therefore OCCULT. You & your 'religion' FAILS II.
A rainbow doesn't physically exist, but can be seen , and is easily explainable & even replicatable. Therefore something not hidden destroys the concept of the 'Spiritual'/'Supernatural'. Such as...
God.
...not exactly showing himself is he? Even as, say... Morgan Freeman in "Bruce Almighty". Question: Why can't this supposedly 'existent ' God show himself, when a non existent rainbow can be seen ? CAUTION: You may not like the only possible answer if you attempt to answer this question in the [only possible way.
Why is this supposedly 'existent' God hiding (or maybe it's due to all our Iron Chariots - Judges 1:19, and all that jazz - thus proof that the Creation is superior to the Creator!)? Therefore God himself is OCCULT, ergo is EVIL. You & your 'religion' - i.e. your 'God' - FAILS III, and you've both struck out.
Not to try to force you to switch systems, but you should take a glance at Pathfinder (Paizo), Fate (Evil Hat), and Legend (Rule of Cool). Also, if you like mocking fundies and gaming, check out Dark Dungeons: The Movie.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
