Why do you live your lives so cautiously? Before I became a believer I was basically a madman in shorts. Anything went. The only thing that held me back was getting caught and the possibility of suffering as a result of my actions. I have to wonder what non-believers are afraid of.

Answer; Your actions, dildoskalos, especially now that you are a fundy loose upon the countryside.
"I have to wonder what non-believers are afraid of."
In the sense that you mean what non-believers are afraid of punnishment from...
The Police, SWAT, Lawsuits, Prison, etc.
Most of us are just afraid of getting caught, you know, like you said. But by real things, like police.
Oh and ladders. I hate ladders.

I'm afriad of dark windows and blank television screens. I'm always afraid that if I look into my reflection, someone will be in the room with me. Freaks me the hell out.
Well, I'm afraid of being murdered/raped/robbed/assaulted/whatever so generally I try to promote a society where that doesn't happen to people by, you know, not murdering/raping/robbing/assualting/whatevering folks.
@ Natalie- Don't forget dark water! Then you have to worry about what's behind you and what's beneath the surface.
You really don't have any concept of what it means to live among other people who also have feelings, dreams, and fears, do you?
I'm afraid of my children being taught religious myths in place of real science. I am afraid of people being consigned to lives of misery and deprivation because the people with power tell them that their economic status was God's decision for them. I am afraid of the planet being made uninhabitable by people who believe that their god will lift them out of this world "soon." And I am afraid of seeing teachings about the brotherhood of humanity and the equal distribution of wealth being turned into an excuse for massacring people who are less than enthusiastic about praising the god that is currently in vogue.
Does that answer your question?
It's not fear of anything, really. It's just that I don't WANT TO behave like that. I genuinely WANT TO live by the Golden Rule, and don't need no Big Bully in the sky to scare me into behaving decently.
If you're a psychopath who are only held in check by the fear of the Big Bully, then by all means; stay religious, please!
What are believers afraid of? Faith only salvation means that sins don't matter only accepting Jesus as your savior matters. It also teaches that this life is pointless and only the next eternal life matters.
Before you wonder what's holding non believers back ask yourself what's holding Faith only Christians back.

Because I wouldn't want others doing bad things to me , therefore why should I do the same to others?
Next question.
"I have to wonder what non-believers are afraid of."
Well, we know you 'belie vers' are afraid of Nothing. As in complete neurological oblivion when you die; no comforting 'Afterlife' to go to, thus your need to cling on with a death-grip to that comforting fluffy delusion called your 'Faith'
Why should we be afraid of Nothing ...?
I have to wonder what non-believers are afraid of.
Spending the rest of your life in a shithole prison, and when you finally die, that's the end of it, you wasted your entire life in that awful place, no afterlife, nothing, your life was just as an inmate in prison, that's all you ever turned out to be.
Confused?
