Mike Mantonya: "The very concept of sin comes from the Bible. Christianity offers to solve a problem of its own making! Would you be thankful to a person who cut you with a knife in order to sell you a bandage?" Dan Barker
Dan Barker faked it in the pulpit for years. His quote shows why he gave up the act. First, he tries to blame God for his own sin (his crimes against God—violation of the Ten Commandments).
That won’t even work in a court of law: “God made me like this, that’s why I robbed the bank.” Second, he thinks God is selling everlasting life, when the Bible makes it clear that it’s a free gift (see Romans 6:23).
Both of these are very basic Christian doctrines that clearly Dan didn’t understand.

Except that you have to take it or else eternal torture. That's not a gift, that's extortion.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Sin is just an imaginary disease invented to sell you a placebo.
And as the others said, bananaman, it's not free at all. It's rather extremely expensive. Because what is eternal life without the free will to actually live it?
Banana Brain, your "refutation" has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the quote. Have you even read it?
Are we sure that this is the real Ray Comfort and not an impoestor?
Dan Barker is 100,000 times the man you are, Bananaman. He came to his senses & realized that religion, including your precious jebus myth, is merely that-a myth. The fact that he had the balls to announce to his friends & co-workers that he was no longer "one of them" is nothing short of amazing. Even more so when you consider that many of them are just like you, Ray-hateful, ignorant, hypocritical.
Now get off the damn internet, Ray. Kirk wishes you would spend more time with him instead of posting this drivel.
>the Bible makes it clear that it’s a free gift
So was my first smartphone. All I had to do to obtain it was sign a 2 year contract, pay AT&T's inflated monthly rates, and pay the local and/or state taxes and an activation fee. Nothing in life is free.
Nothing in the bible is free because they want you to give them your heart, mind, body, and "soul", whatever that might be. That's too steep a price for any reasonable person to pay for an imaginary home in the sky. It's a confidence game, Ray, "trust me, there is a heaven, but you have to die to go there". Now I ask you, Ray, how can you say that with a straight face?
I think he's actually referencing the "Do what I say because I'm the religious authority figure who interprets the book for you, and God want's 10% of all you get, here's my address. You want to be saved from the eternal punishment you so richly deserve, don't you, you miserable sinner?" aspect of organized Xtianity.
He certainly shouldn't be casting insults of intellect or scriptural understanding at anybody. Ray's been caught several times being ignorant of Biblical content and of making ridiculous interpretations by cherry picking and twisting meaning to fit his Right Wing Conservative base.
Look how much he and Kirk have wedged themselves into Climate Change denial and 'War on Christmas' fear mongering. These aren't Scriptural arguments or concerns of the faith, they're entirely right wing agendas.
he thinks God is selling everlasting life
No, he thinks Christianity is selling everlasting life and claiming God has given His endorsement.
"Dan Barker faked it in the pulpit for years. His quote shows why he gave up the act."
Yet another case of "The faith of a True Believer is *unshakable*! A True Believer never doubts, not even for the tiniest fraction of a second!! So anyone who CLAIM they used to believe what I believe, but now they don't, because reasons, WERE NEVER True Believers!!!! If True Believers are real money, the 'former believers' are and always were counterfeit money!!!!!"
Mantonya is slightly wrong - the concept of sin is essentially no different than all the other taboos of early humans. You're told not to do something because it might offend a supernatural being, bringing misfortune or some spiritual malaise to you and your tribe.
Comfort is totally wrong.
Practicing any religion other than Wahhabi Islam in Saudi Arabia is a sin .
Sin.
A basic Christain doctrine that clearly Josh Buggar never understood: and he was a 'Saved' & Righteous Christian by your definition, Ray Cumfart.

Is Slavery still legal , and therefore not a sin , Banana Boy...?! [/Abraham Lincoln, William Wilberforce]
Rays wrong again, unfortunately invoking God has gotten people off in a court. It's often used in Incest and Pedophilia cases especially in America. Again demonstrating that the Bible is a loophole book and a crutch of hypocrisy that Ray claims it isn't.
As for someone "faked it in the pulpit for years" Ray is a constant liar and bearer of false witness, he in no way can claim moral superiority over anyone. Dishonesty while preaching could be Rays business description.
Confused?
