I was a Xian until 18 y.o. I got gifts from lawyers when I got baptised, a trip to Europe, a Xian retreat with high-school girls in rapturous throes of passion and mocked by people like those on THIS BASTARD SITE. X(

Persecution is to be hindered in your every-day life by the majority of the population. As Christians are the majority of the population in many Western countries, they simply can't be persecuted.
I do, however, concede that some Christians might be a bit persecuted here in Sweden. Telling people that you are a practicing Christian tends to give you an air of silliness, foolishness, gullibility, something along those lines. But not to the point where others are mean to you, it's more like the pity people feel towards mentally challenged people.
