Atheism is a negative belief system that can retain some coherence and sense of direction and purpose only by parasitically criticizing theistic systems. It is the cancer of thought.

Sorry, but there's no system involved, and the only belief is disbelief . As for coherence and sense of direction -- no. Here at FSTDT, sure, a lot of us are athiests and we all enjoy mocking fundamentalists of all stripes (theist or non, though the latter do tend to be comparatively rare), but it's just a grouping of like minds. No different than a message board dedicated to Star Wars nerds, or a Harry Potter slashfic site, or the idiot hive-mind at FreeCon.
...Actually, wow, those were really bad comparisons.
"No empirical evidence, such as a miracle or response to prayer has gained scientific consensus as definitive proof of God's existence. Some claim that the multitude of world religions and historical evidence shows that humans invented God, not the other way around. However, the attribution of omnipotence to God gives rise to the "problem of the supernatural". Any omnipotent entity could by definition obscure any confirmatory evidence, or "plant" evidence of its own non-existence." ~Wikipedia entry on 'God'.
"Faith is a belief, trust, or confidence, not based merely on logic, reason, or empirical data, but based fundamentally on volition often associated with a transpersonal relationship with God, a higher power, a person, elements of nature, and/or a perception of the human race as a whole. Faith can be placed in a person, inanimate object, state of affairs, proposition or body of propositions such as a religious credit." ~Wikipedia entry on 'Faith'.
So there it is; you believe in something for which there is no proof, no evidence, and not even a good reason why your god is right and another god is wrong. You worship the cullmination of a thousand wishful thoughts of a hundred fantasy father figures woven into story of moral abiguity, violence, intolerence, hate, power, greed, fear and genocide.
Gee, that's a tough one to decide.
Petr may have stumbled upon an important issue. There are those atheists who believe that theism should be ignored and like other useless attributes of ancient societies, it will either disappear or fade away towards irrelevancy. There are others who believe that theism is a cancer and must be attacked and destroyed.
It is akin to the difference between Canada and the United States with regard to monarchy.
Oh, and since I just know someone else will do this one sooner or later anyway, I'll do it preemptively:

Geez, take away my reason for living, whydoncha? ;^)
Atheism is NOT negative. We have positive positions on many subjects, however, we all share the belief that gods do not exist.
By your "logic," the case could be easily made that Xianity is a "negative belief system" in that Xians do not believe in Zeus, Odin, FSM or the pink unicorn.
Atheism has nothing in common with parasites or cancer, but thanks for thinking of us.
Faith, the basis of any belief system, is charactherised by, precisely, the lack of critical thought. Having faith in something is believing in it while having no proof. Atheism, on the other hand, is the stance of lack of belief. This is, you only believe something if you have proof for it. Theism discourages critical analysis of the evidence, while atheism considers it the only valid way of obtaining knowledge. Which one was the cancer of thought again?
There is no coherence or sense of direction and purpose in the lack of belief in gods, stupid. It has the same purpose as not collecting stamps.
What's parasitically with criticizing theistic systems?
Confused?
