[In reference to crosses at public memorials]
It is a win anytime a soul is saved, and who is to say that the sight of that cross won't bring someone to their knees.

Only works on the already indoctrinated, so at most it's a memory-jogger... As for my reaction to crosses, I remember being terrified of a crucifix on the side of the road when I was a little kid, once I understood what it represented. I had to close my eyes to pass in front of it...
OMG I do NOT understand these fucking lunatics at all. Why do they celebrate images of subjugation and enslavement? They WANT to be on their knees, debasing themselves?
I tell you, every time I see one of those goddamn "Every knee shall bow" window stickers I want to throw a big, fat rock through it. MAN that irritates me.
If you have to kneel every time you see a cross, perhaps you should seek help for your OCD.
Btw, Shell, are you an anarchist? :p

Ha! I'm actually not, is the thing. I'm, like, the most boring rule-follower ever. I don't even drive fast. I just find the foundational narratives of Christianity so offensive and perverse that I have no respect for them.
Uh-huh. Which is why someone put up a cross very similar to this:

next to the Adult World in Campbell County, Tennessee. They were hoping that they could drive customers away from such a sinful place of business, but they should have realized that people just use it as a landmark. "There's that ugly-ass cross, five minutes to new porn!"
When I see those memorials I always think that someone was saddened profoundly by the loss of a loved one. I am not, however, so easily influenced as to change my world perspective by looking at two strips of pine and some artificial flowers.
Well, if you keep smacking me over the head with that cross, I will go to a more stable state in case I lose my balance. So, knees, perhaps, hands, too. Eventually I would lose consciousness and lie down.
“It is a win anytime a soul is saved”
Even if we accepted this as true, your god doesn’t need memorials to save a soul.
Constantine saw a cross of light in the sky, with words, and had a dream that backed up the message, and conquered in God’s name.
People keep finding crosses or figures of Jesus, Mary, or words of teh Prophet in natural settings. Cooked into toast, drains in an underpass, fish scales, etc. A Cross of steel was found at Ground Zero after 9/11.
Three astroloers followed the Star of Bethlehem to Christ’s birthday party.
Having an entirely secular monument won’t stop god from displaying his might, majesty, and existence at any time. Or from credulous worshipers from perceiving their skybeast at the slightest coincidence. …
Confused?
