[re: Hovind's imprisonment]
I’m trying to figure out how to organize something. Right now, I’m calling everyone I know. I started emailing the white house when I found out. I contacted them yesturday and I plan on contacting them every day! I contacted the Voice of the Martyrs, no response yet. I don’t know if they will say anything because this is a political issue and there are those who would like to say that he’s done something morally wrong. The Devil knows scripture and it doesn’t suprise me that he’s using it to his advantage. This is a spiritural battle. We are all in trouble if our president doesn’t veto the “hate crimes” act. We may all end up like Dr. Hovind , if we have the guts to stand like he has. If we don’t shake something up, we’ll all be even more persecuted than we already are.

They don't bother to reply, because it's all about taxes and your spiritual war is a strawman to cover up your loonacy. Besides, if you wrote better, they would have some sensation of you doing some research on the matter and having a valid argument.

And here I was thinking that he got caught on a legal basis, not scriptural. Maybe the devil knows the law to and decided to use that in favor of removing the moron from society. Even Satan isn't evil enough (if he really is evil) to keep Hovind running around spouting his ignorance.
"....and there are those who would like to say that he's done something morally wrong."
Shooting Fish in a Barrel Award?
Yes the he's done lot's of things morally wrong, but that's not why he's in prison, but it does make him being in prison that much funnier.

Expect a visit from some very serious looking gentlemen in suits and dark glasses any day now. Raving lunatics attempting to contact the President are treated seriously by the Secret Service.
If we don’t shake something up, we’ll all be even more persecuted than we already are.
I wish, just once, one of you morons really was being persecuted so the rest of you would be able to tell the difference. Let us know when you begin being rounded up and fed to the lions again, or having your possessions confiscated by the government without any cause other than you happen to be Christian.
We may all end up like Dr. Hovind, if we have the guts to stand like he has.
"Stand like he has" meaning refuse to pay your taxes and come up with a bunch of nonsense "tax-protester" legal arguments to try and get away with it? I think I can guaran-damn-tee you'll end up like Hovind. As you should. Even Jesus didn't refuse to pay his taxes.
It's easy to avoid paying US income tax and Social Security: just move somewhere else. If you want to stay, pay your share. If you don't like US tax laws, elect someone who'll change them. Don't just thumb your nose at the law.
there are those who would like to say that he’s done something morally wrong.
Yeah, like the fundamentalist Baptist VP of Pensacola Christian College who turned him in, because even the Bible says you should pay your taxes.
We are all in trouble if our president doesn’t veto the “hate crimes” act.
You realize, don't you, that you still go to jail for hate crimes. They're already illegal. The hate crimes act just adds to your sentence.
This is not a spiritual battle. Taxes are not a spiritual matter. All Hovind has stood up for, as far as I know, is tax evasion and lies. He certainly has not been charged with any hate crime.
Man, get your paranoia priorities in order. You're all over the place here. Pick one delusion and stick with it.
I googled Voice of the Martyrs.
I've not explored their site in depth, but from what I've seen, they may be a bit on the fundie side, but in general seem to be a perfectly good group set up to help Christians who are really being persecuted for their faith -- i.e. imprisoned and tortured in countries that are truly oppressive.
I'd imagine they either laughed at gravy1, or took the "you know nothing of persecution" philosophy.
I'm pretty sure they would put Carl Sagan away if he tried to screw the government by not paying his taxes.
Oh, and Christians are anything but persecuted. No one likes you because if you were in charge, you would be the ones persecuting everyone left and right.
Refusing to pay your taxes and/or cheating on your taxes, are both criminal offenses, and yes, that's morally wrong.
Render unto Caesar, dolt. It's a Biblical offense too (Matthew 22:21).
How is cheating on your taxes the same as having guts to stand? The first is the actions of a weak, unprincipled person, and the second is the action of a strong, empathetic person.
According to Wikipedia, 75 percent of Americans were Christians in 2015. How the heck can 75 percent be persecuted by 25 percent? The 75 percent are illiterate trailer-trash bumpkins while the 25 are rich, intelligent, educated and resourceful?
(I'm not saying that all Christians are trailer-trash, I'm just offering it up as a possible (though unlikely) explanation for his/her "argument"...)
Confused?
