The African-American community (97% and 95%), including Hank Aaron, voted twice for an un-vetted, inexperienced, unqualified, incompetent President with a hidden past, corrupt colleagues, and indiscrete personal indulgences. The African-American community's overwhelming vote and support was and is based solely on the color of Barack Obama's skin and nothing else. I would like Mr. Aaron to explain who didn't get the memo; "judge an man on the content of his character (and qualifications), not the color of his skin." Republicans? Whites? Really?! I would also like to remind Mr. Aaron that the founders of the KKK were Dixie Democrats, the governor who stood in the doorway of the University of Alabama to prevent segregation was George Wallace, a Democrat. Democrats overwhelmingly voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, including Al Gore's father! The South had historically been Blue states! Finally, Mr. Aaron please don't taint you reputation in your old age by being a "useful idiot" of the Progressive/Marxists.

I think that how Strom Thurmond, probably the most vociferous opponent of civil rights, switched his allegiance from the Dems to the RepubiCUNTs shows you that the Dems of old really are the Repubs of new.
I am amused by the claim that Obama only got a majority of the African-American vote because he's black. Nothing to do with the Republicans bringing up every racist dog whistle they can think of for the last 50 years, and that white Democratic candidates get the same proportion of the black vote; they must just be racists themselves, right? And of course we have to throw in some pre-Great Switch politics and pretend they still represent the state of play.
Another white guy still pissed off that Romney didn't win.
Why would have any black voter vote for Romney anyway? What did he offer them? Just another ultra-rich white guy who's out of touch with most voters in general, and middle- and lower-class black people in particular.
And maybe black voters are smart enough to see through all the stupid anti-Obama conspiracy theory bullshit and Republican racism.
BTW, the Democratic and Republican parties of 50 years ago are so unlike the parties of today. They've effectively done a polar change and switched places.
"The African-American community (97% and 95%), including Hank Aaron, voted twice for an un-vetted, inexperienced, unqualified, incompetent President with a hidden past, corrupt colleagues, and indiscrete personal indulgences."
Huh. I would have thought they voted for Gore and Kerry, instead.
Explanation is so simple, as often : between two un-vetted, inexperienced, unqualified, incompetent candidates, they did chose the one looking like them.
If a true competent politicians had been available as candidate(wait - a competent politician???)
Yes, the democrats, especially their southern wing, were once a racist party - although the civil rights act split on north-south not partisan lines. Then the Republicans adopted the southern strategy; it's telling that the most recent example cited in this post happened when Obama was three years old.
The people who accuse black voters of going 95% Obama solely over skin color need to explain why black republican candidates still lose black voters by large margins when running against white democrats, and why 88% of black voters voted for John Kerry. Partisan politics, not the race of the candidates, explains the overwhelming majority of black voting patterns - and if 7% of black people are in fact swayed by candidate race, the same can be argued of other demographic groups. (Then again, Obama was in many respects a better candidate than Kerry, there's a four year generational change between elections, and the political situation was different; 7% is the most you can possibly ascribe to race, not an ironclad explanation of the whole difference.)
In fact, every African-American who voted in 2004 or before, has voted for a white candidate for president. How many Republicans have voted for a black candidate for president?
Democrats overwhelmingly voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, including Al Gore's father!
A majority of Democrats voted for the bill in both the House and the Senate. Twice. Strangely enough, while only a minority of Southern Democrats voted for it, no Southern Republicans at all voted for the bill.
In short, what you're saying is you're saying is you're proud of allowing the racist n*****s to vote; small wonder African-American voters aren't impressed.
Here's the actual quote from Hank Aaron:
"[America's race relations] are not that far removed from when I was chasing the record. If you think that, you are fooling yourself. A lot of things have happened in this country, but we have so far to go."
"We can talk about baseball. Talk about politics. Sure, this country has a black president, but when you look at a black president, President Obama is left with his foot stuck in the mud from all of the Republicans with the way he's treated. We have moved in the right direction, and there have been improvements, but we still have a long ways to go in the country. The bigger difference is that back then they had hoods. Now they have neckties and starched shirts."
The funny thing is that racists will bring up how black people overwhelmingly voted for Obama in two elections, claiming because of skin color, while overtly racist conservatives proudly voted against Obama in two elections based solely on the color of his skin. Not to mention the huge amount of covert racism in the form of conspiracy theories claiming Obama is a Muslim, not a natural-born citizen, is gay, is a communist, etc.
Confused?
