The reason homosexuality is "introduced" as an option is because people like you squelch sexual knowledge and some of those born gay are forced to live in torment and isolation. Simply learning about homosexuality isn't going to change a person from straight to gay. Don't be afraid, Bucky.

Even though I went to a *shudder* religious highschool, which refused to teach anything about homosexuality, that didn't stop my class president (who was from a strict religious family) coming out of the closet when he was 14...so when during his strict religious upbringing was he indoctrinated?
Fundies are 'taught' very young. Their doctrine is the ONLY thing, and any inclination to ignore or bypass it, apparently entails a hostile doctrine pushed by the 'baad baad peoples'.
They don't have to indoctrinate anybody, they only have to make sure that gay teenagers know that homosexual feelings are normal and not bad or wrong so they don't feel ashamed of themselves and think they are freaks. It's about making the gay kids feel comfortable, not making the straight kids gay because it doesn't work that way. You can't "make" somebody gay.

The only thing we "normal" people do, is that if the kiddies ask why Uncle Herbert and Uncle Matt are kissing, we inform them that Uncle Herbert and Uncle Matt love each other, just like mommy and daddy do. End of story. And the kiddies have probably forgot both question and answer in five minutes. No big deal, nothing really interesting about it, it just is what it is.
