"I am starting to believe that Anon-e-Moose is the atheist equivalent of a fundamentalist. S/he endlessly attacks strawmans and sets up false dichotomies in almost every post."
And you never have, amirite, dearie?:

@His4Life
"When you call him a full vegetable, that's what I meant by spinach man. I wasn't thinking of popeye, just that this guy is, the mental and physical equivalent of, spinach. He may even be dead for all Iknow - have you ever seem him move or twitch? He's just a pile of human remains being used as a satanic experiment to promote the ideas of this artificial computer that is controlling him."
"For example, s/he says that if I can't prove the existence of an afterlife - immediately, no less - then that in itself is proof that it doesn't exist. Um, really?"
That's the way the game's played (emph-ass-is added):
"First of all, what is "proof?" Can you prove that Paris exists? All you can do is send me eyewitness accounts, photos and maps and then tell me that if I do xyz, I can go there and see for myself."
What's stopping you, dearie? X3
"I can't provide "physical" proof of heaven or hell because THEY ARE NOT PHYSICAL and Christians DO NOT CLAIM THAT THEY PHYSICALLY EXIST IN THIS WORLD."
Or any other world - or dimension, or plane of existence anywhere else, for that matter. Like I say: you assert that there's this 'Hell' that we who aren't exactly like you 'will' supposedly 'go' to when we die. That means that the burden of proof is on you to maintain that your assertion is correct. that therefore means showing we Atheists evidence that there's this so-called 'Hell'. Which supposedly 'exists' - now (and no, it doesn't exist now is no excuse). By making this assertion, you must demonstrate - to our satisfaction - that there is indeed this 'Hell'. And that means giving us physical evidence. Now. Or else be shown the liar you really are - and that your pushing your so-called 'beliefs' on anyone else - via the psychological blackmail/intimidation method so bel.oved of you fundies: 'Turn or Burn' - is unjustifiable.
Can't make us accept - to our satisfaction - that this so-called 'Hell' does exist (or has, or even will)? Remember: That which is asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence. There is no 'Hell'. You yourself - in your refusal to show us to our satisfaction - proves there is no such thing.
"Furthermore, what does the quote you link to have to do with anything? That's not a quote from me."
But it is extremely relevant. It's someone who does accept that the Bible is literal. Are you going to say to his face that he's wrong? You'd on;y serve to prove the eternal FAIL of your so-called 'beliefs. When - because of the thousands of denominations that exist - Christians can't even agree with each other about their own doctrine, what makes you think you have the [i[right to claim [i[you are 'right'? If you're not all right, ergo you;re all wrong. QED.
"Are you having trouble distinguishing personalities now or what? Brandon Rizzo is correct, I never made that assumption. The Bible is made up of 66 different books, all by different authors."
But none of them this so-called 'God'. Thus the Bible is nothing more than BS created by Bronze Age goatfuckers on industrial-strength hallucinogens, with ideas above their stations. Flawed, errant men.Not 'God.
"Some are poetry"
Then it should say so right from the start.
"some are history"
Pontius Pilate: Prefect or Governor? that is, if he actually existed, that is:
http://www.bible-history.com/empires/pilate.html
There's certainly no extra-Biblical evidence that Jesus even existed, for that matter. But then, The Bible was written by said goat-fuckers with ideas above their stations.
"and some are full of symbolism (apocalyptic literature)."
Ah yes, about those industrial-strength hallucinogens. Said Bronze Age goatfuckers were certainly off their tits on such. I mean, have you read Revelation?! More like symbollocks, amirite?!
"I do believe the historic parts, that are written as history, are correct and literal."
See above. Nope, not one shred of proof that this 'Jesus' even existed. The 'Shroud of Turin' was proven to be a medieval fake.
"owever, I don't believe the poetry or symbolic books are literal, because the authors never meant for them to be read that way in the first place! They DO NOT CLAIM to be literal books."
Then, by your own admission, Troll4Life, this is where your so-called 'Word of God' should be situated in all bookshops:
image
Books on physics, chemistry, astronomy, cosmology, biology (especially Evolutionary) and mathematics (PROTIP: The Bible. Pi = exactly 3. The ancient Greeks proved otherwise. That's ancient. As in BCE/) will always be in the non fiction sections of bookshops, libraries etc. Because what's in such is backed by facts. Evidence. The Bible? No evidence whatsoever to back up anything it aserts.
That which is asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.
"So it depends on what scripture you are talking about, but don't make blanket assumptions about what I believe just because you are an atheistic fundamentalist."
I bring up your words about Prof. Stephen Hawking. Or Richard Dawkins for that matter. Or any other Atheist. Jim Bakker. Jimmy Swaggart. Ted Faggard. Kent Hovind. Tony Alamo. Scott Roeder. Fred Phelps.
And that's the difference.
"And Jesus Camp? Fred Phelps? These two things prove Christianity is wrong?"
Apologetics for child indoctrination/psychological torture, much dearie? I don't see you becoming the diametric opposite to Becky Fischer: being a Quaker. And the WBC? I don't see the GOP doing everything in their (Political) power to eliminate Fred Phelps et al. And they unjustifiably abuse/misuse the 1st Amendment for their own nefaroious ends.
"Get out of town. If that's true, then the Ku Klux Klan proves that being white is wrong."
You said it dearie, I didn't.
