The spin the media is putting on this is quite epic, it would be like calling Hitler's suicide in his bunker as "Prolific youth leader and economic genius kills self due to lack of western support"- While technically true in all of the words, it's the part they omit that is the killer. Dr. Tiller /= Jeffery Dahmer. He was not a serial killer. He didn't lure young boys back to his apartment say he could 'keep them with him forever'. Nor did he eat human flesh or pour acid into his victim's brains to make his own personal zombie slaves.
And I would think that from a sensible pro-life point of view, the abortions Tiller did were less heinous than those done by other abortionists. Dr. Tiller only did them in emergencies because it's illegal to do late term abortions except in extreme circumstances. The babies are already dead, seriously deformed, or the mother's going to die. Regular abortions could happen for whatever reason the mother wants.

Yes, I recoil in shock when anyone is beaten down or killed. A human life is a precious thing and should not be wasted, in any way. (Oh, and you start being a human when you are born.) And the recoil happens also when the person is killed by the state, after a death sentence. As far as I know, the US of A is the only democracy legally killing its citizen.
I don't know exactly what Doctor Tiller did, but third trimester abortions, that must be malformed fetuses or severely sick women, right? Would divinseraph want to carry a dead baby in her womb for thee months before the labor started? And I bet that Hitler outdoes Tiller as a killer by about ten thousand miles. Around 10 milion people died during or right after WWII, which was started by Hitler.

Jeffrey Dahmer was a heinous, contemptible man. And he was sentenced to life in prison for his crimes. The circumstances surrounding his death, although not surprising, were definitely lamentable and regrettable, especially from the vantage point of the guards who allowed it to happen.
Dahmer's death was a crime and I believe a thorough investigation of the circumstances was warranted. In terms of punishment for Dahmer's own crimes, I can't help but think that justice was not served.
edit: I just looked up Dahmer on Wikipedia. He apparently became a fundamentalist Christian in prison before he was killed. So have the fundies reached the point where they're willing to eat your own?

From what i can gather, he performed these abortions when the foetus was not developed properly. I don't see anything wrong in that - why force a woman to go through labour to delver a dead child?

Third trimester abortions are terrible things however women who have them don't just suddenly decide "I want an abortion after all." No by that point a woman has already decided to keep her baby and is going though an abortion after serous thought, generally when her life and the life of the baby are in danger.
Tiller saved lives, the lives of women who probably went on to having more children. If future children are so important then isn't aborting one dangerous pregnancy worth it if she goes on to have say three kids later. That's just a hypothetical situation but had the woman died giving birth her three future kids all would have never been born.
