I can imagine that there are people who go though a period of time in their life where they may question God. But I can not image anyone living their whole life without God being a part of it.
Even the grand martial Dawkins himself opens his presentation with an announcement that God is a "Delusion". Then he steadys himself for the inevitable lightening bolt that is going to come flashing out of the sky. But when nothing happens, then he breathes a sigh of relief and gets on with trying to promote his book.
Dawkins know what he can get away with and what he can not get away with. Just like the ocean has a limit, so humans have their limits and they have a boundry in what God will allow them to do.
Jeremiah 5:22 niv
Should you not fear me?" declares the Lord.
"Should you not tremble in my presence?
I made the sand a boundary for the sea,
an everlasting barrier it cannot cross.
The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail;
they may roar, but they cannot cross it.
The main thing I see is that people die a early death when they set a bad example for others. Mick Jagger seems to go on forever simply because he admits there is no satisfaction in what he is doing. Yet people like Elvis, james dean, marilyn monroe, janis joplin, jimmy hendrix and many more died a early death because of the bad example they were showing others.

Really? You doubt that anyone could have lived totally without God? Because there are people who have done it.
Oh, and the people you listed pretty much died of drug related causes. I'm not sure about Marilyn Monroe or James Dean, though.

Well, learn to believe it, pal.

Then I guess it's not "inevitable," huh. Really shot yourself in the foot with that one, didn't ya?

Yes, well, as soon as there's some retribution from Gawd for anything anyone has done, we'll know what our "boundaries" are, won't we?
Jeremiah 5:22 niv
You're quoting the NIV??? Bad fundie! Bad!
Should you not fear me?" declares the Lord.

That's fantastic. You're quoting me some bad fictional poetry, and expecting it to have some kind of logical legitimacy.
The main thing I see is that people die a early death when they set a bad example for others.
Okay, completely out from left field, but so what?
Mick Jagger seems to go on forever simply because he admits there is no satisfaction in what he is doing.
Actually, that's not what the song is about at all, and I think Mick Jagger gets great satisfaction from what he does.
Yet people like Elvis, james dean, marilyn monroe, janis joplin, jimmy hendrix and many more died a early death because of the bad example they were showing others.
So, which is it? Satisfaction or setting a bad example?
Your ridiculous logic is all over the board here.
Walnut,
Marilyn Monroe died from an OD, and James Dean died in a street race. Both were tragic and both died too young, but I doubt God had anything to do with it.
When I read this for the first time, I thought it wouldn't get any better than "Grand Martial Dawkins." But then he goes on a tangent with Mick, Elivs, and "jimmy" (blasphemy!), and I knew it was gold.
I made the sand a boundary for the sea,

"The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail;

If thats actually from the bible then it is one more point for atheism because the oceans are slowly but surely defeating the sand. It is called erosion. If you ever took a geology class you would know that but wait learning is a sin because facts might contradict your book.
"I can imagine that there are people who go though a period of time in their life where they may question God. But I can not image anyone living their whole life without God being a part of it."
Well then, you're not very bright or imaginative, are you?
"Even the grand martial Dawkins himself opens his presentation with an announcement that God is a "Delusion"."
Martial?
"Then he steadys himself for the inevitable lightening bolt that is going to come flashing out of the sky. But when nothing happens, then he breathes a sigh of relief and gets on with trying to promote his book."
If the lightning bolt was "inevitable," how is it that "nothing happens?"
"Dawkins know what he can get away with and what he can not get away with. Just like the ocean has a limit, so humans have their limits and they have a boundry in what God will allow them to do."
Or, more likely, one can do anything and everything yet suffer no consequences from God because God does not exist.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. God is love, God is all good and loving, yet everyone should fear him. Johnny, can you tell me what's wrong with this idea?
"The main thing I see is that people die a early death when they set a bad example for others. Mick Jagger seems to go on forever simply because he admits there is no satisfaction in what he is doing."
Mick survives only because of a song title? Who da thunk it?
"Yet people like Elvis, james dean, marilyn monroe, janis joplin, jimmy hendrix and many more died a early death because of the bad example they were showing others."
I guess all those Xian children who have died were killed by God because they were setting a bad example?
May I also point out that Keith Richards is still alive, yet both he and Mick are well known for not settings good examples.

Ah but Billy Joel said that "Only the good die young."

And he did so with a great voice and excellent music skills.. which means I am inclined to believe him over this JohnR idiot.
That verse is retarded, because the sea makes beaches, and beaches are hardly everlasting. And there ARE such things as floods, and tsunamis. You'd think God would know that before telling people to write it.
And yet, sadistic serial killers are allowed to continue murdering, as opposed to being struck down, because God doesn't think that's a bad enough example of humanity.
@JohnR7
Yet people like Elvis, james dean, marilyn monroe, janis joplin, jimmy hendrix and many more
Like Jesus?
First off, don't you EVER disrespect the great name of Jimi Marshall Hendrix by spelling it in small letters and misspelling it. You should be drawn and quartered for that.
The sand is a boundry for the sea? I guess if you spend most of your life living inland in a desert you might buy that, but the fact remains that god didn't know the difference between a sea and an ocean, because the MEN who wrote the bible didn't know any better. Those men weren't there long enough to realize that beaches do change, sand is the result of eroded rocks, not something invented especially for beaches, and that tsunami's don't care where man puts up his barriers, the ocean pretty much goes where it wants to. Ever heard of Herakleion and Eastern Canopus? They are underwater now, but they weren't built underwater. Now how could that happen?
And doesn't those passages contridict the noah story a bit?
Let´s look carefully. So, Mick Jagger, if he contradicts your crap, is an exception because he has a song that says symbollically I got no satisfaction?, let´s say that obviously you´re unable to differentiate fact from fiction. Let´s see other "examples". Stalin, Pinochet and Pol Pot, die in their nineties. People in the death row can be up to sisxty. Marquis of Sade almost seventy............man, don´t pick and choose. And besides, what´s wrong with Joan Baez, Bob Dylan or Joni Mitchell?

Say hello to the recipient of this year's Missing the Point Entirely Award
JohnR7 -- do you EVER read Scripture in the context of the period, time, culture, politics and religion of the time in which it was written?
Apparently not.
Sounds like JohnR has been listening to the Westboro Baptist Church. They said God killed all those little Amish girls as punishment for living in a country that doesn't let fundies kill gays. God must have missed Aleister Crowley, who was once dubbed the "wickedest man in the world", though: he lived to 72.
Care to explain what bad example my childhood friend set that merited dying of leukemia at 14 years old? What could he have possibly done to deserve that?
Or the son of my little brother's godmother, he died from a brain tumor when he was barely 7. It broke his mother's heart. Care to explain why he deserved to die when Dubya is still alive despite all his drinking, doing drugs, lying, stealing, warmongering,....?
Marilyn Monroe died from an OD, and James Dean died in a street race. Both were tragic and both died too young, but I doubt God had anything to do with it.
Wzll, I suppose you heard the theories about Marilyn's OD not exactly being an accident. But be it an accident, sucide or murder, it was indeed tragic and prematurate.
So according to you, Mick Jagger gets to live, despite being a very bad example, just because he's not enjoying what he's doing. Does that mean I can live peacefully as an atheist into my nineties as long as I don't enjoy my life?

Sah-WING and a miss.
God must have missed Aleister Crowley, who was once dubbed the "wickedest man in the world", though: he lived to 72.
Ah, but now Crowley has moved on to his greater reward of being eternally flayed by the wit of Rabelais, against which he so gravely offended.
“I can imagine that there are people who go though a period of time in their life where they may question God. But I can not image anyone living their whole life without God being a part of it.”
Yuo ever doubt Zeus, John?
How much of your whole life do you think you could live without Zeus being part of it?
“But when nothing happens, then he breathes a sigh of relief and gets on with trying to promote his book.”
I’ve been an atheist for a while.
I still comment on some of my jokes that ’I’m going to burn in hell for that one.’
I also move away from someone making incredibly sacriligeous statements as if expecting lightning. As a joke, moron.
“… and they have a boundry in what God will allow them to do.”
No, we do not.
I point to Trump taking God’s name in vain and nto even getting a rain cloud.
“The main thing I see is that people die a early death when they set a bad example for others.”
If this was true, i really believe every televangelist wuold die on live tv the first time they asked for money.
Confused?
