I get depressed, but that's because we have these long and dark winters, so you can as well blame God for that, now can't you? Goddamn God and badly designed seasons.

Alcoholism is caused by unemployment, and unemployment is caused by Stephen Elop, that ex-Microsoft prick who came and singlehandedly destroyed Nokia and fucked our economy. Goddamn Americans.

The word you're looking for is "taught, not "programmed." Programming is how you get a computer to do something useful like allow you to access the World Wide Web or type out a paper to avoid getting carpal tunnel from using a pen to do the whole shebang. To get a human to do something useful, like behaving properly (as opposed to shooting random people as in the Bible Belt here in the US), you teach it.

Old Viking: Lutefisk is not the only sin in Skandinavia, you´re forgetting sursild. Admitted, it´s only Swedes who do it, but it contaminates the whole region.

For drowning in porn: Breivik is Norwegian and Norway is much stricter about porn than other Skandinavian countries. Porn is not sold or shown in Norway. I know, I´ve lived there and their TV shows "documents" of strippers and bikinibeaches every saturday night (no nakedness shown) instead of movies. Norwegians travel to Sweden to do their shopping, that´s called "harryism". They buy things that are cheaper in Sweden than in Norway. There are shopping malls on low populated areas of Sweden near the Norwegian border that flourish only because of Norwegian tourists. Their trade consists sweets, tobacco, alcohol and meat. Close by these shopping centers you always find a shabby little store selling "videos". Inside they are crammed with porn magazines, DVD´s etc. Those shops wouldn´t be there if there were no customers.

Sweden and Denmark have porn, and Finland has it´s share. Have never been in Iceland, but since it´s isolated, dark and cold place, what else is there to do than have hot monkey love?

As has been said, Breivik was an aberration, not the norm. Breivik's beliefs are mainstream in my country -- as proof of this assertion, in the aftermath of the Oslo attack, every right-wing source did its best to excuse his actions. This lionization of a Christian terrorist in mainstream media happened ONLY in the US.

We are also a violent culture; nonexistent gun control leads to a higher violent crime rate than anywhere else (which is only exacerbated by our corrupt legal system filled with hanging judges) and when the US Congress voted almost unanimously to invade Iraq in flagrant contravention of international law, Europe condemned the act and refused to join in. Western Europe has not had a war for 67 years (and some countries in it have been at peace continuously for 197 years.) America gets into one every decade. As if that weren't enough, America has the worst schools in the free world. They were deliberately designed to create a society of unquestioning menial workers, in order to aid in the rich trampling over everybody else's rights. No European country has such an out-of-date system; they teach critical thinking in Scandinavia, dagnabbit!

Which brings me to my final point, that America is the only country to be sickeningly religious despite also being very prosperous. Our religiosity is comparable to Iran or Pakistan. This manifests in creationism, denial of global warming which could lead to the end of industrial society, and in telling lies about history and the Constitution, a document with which most people outside the country are intimately familiar, but which no American can accurately quote. Europe in general, and Scandinavia in particular, is highly rationalist. Those countries have very nearly outgrown such silly superstitions as Biblical literalism and religiously motivated hatred. Rationalism and logic are positively shunned in America, to the point where atheists are the country's most hated minority. This state of affairs (and the mere notion of a hated minority) is inconceivable in the civilized world. In every instance where the countries of Scandinavia differ from the United States of America, the Scandinavian situation is better by leaps and bounds. Nobody has ever thought that Scandinavians walk around other countries like they own the place and show no respect to their fellow humans.

So no, I am not a bigot. Bigotry has no basis in fact; my criticism of this country is rooted entirely in the undeniable fact that Americans are reactionary, bellicose, violent, uneducated, racist, sexist, homophobic, irrational, avaricious, sociopathic, uncaring, and worst of all, fundamentalist, to levels that Europeans realized were unacceptable after the horrors of the Second World War set them straight.

I didn't know we were drowning. As far as I know, there are both men and women in it. No way to treat humans IMO. Sex should be fun and consensual for all parties IMO.

Those children were scared half to death, they might have seen things that were not there. If Breivik was under any kind of mind control, it was white supremacist, nationalistic and Christian control.

Why would we be offended by you throwing manure on our countries, with only a rudimentary knowledge about them. Can you even point out Norway on a map?

You've never been to Scandinavia, have you? Every time I visit (my daughter lives in Norway) I see much to admire that I wish my own country (the UK) would emulate.

The idea that an AMERICAN should accuse SCANDINAVIA of "drowing in porn" goes beyond kettle and pot. Which country has the greatest proportion of its population behind bars? Which spends the most per capita on healhcare in order to produce the 37th most effective system (way behind all the Scandinavian countries)? Scandinavian countries have their problems, including, yes, an undertow of racism. But they are largely peaceful and functional. The USA's culture is increasingly polarised and delusional, not to mention extremely violent. Scandinavia vs the USA for quality of life? No contest.
