I personally didn't support the Syria strikes, but I have no sympathy for the alt-rightists and conspiracy theorists who are whining about it now. You made Trump's bed, now let him lie in it.
If I'd been president, I would probably have just discreetly told the Jordanians, Israelis, and Iraqi Kurds that they can intervene if they like (even to the point of annexing any Sunni, Druze, or Kurdish, respectively, areas they happen to seize) and we won't stop them if they do.
That way America wouldn't actually be DOING anything, we'd just be stepping out of the way and letting the neighbors sort things out. Syria as a unitary country can't be saved, so I think it's best for human rights if we should just let the Middle East redraw its own borders in the most humane manner possible.
@Hu's On First: I get the logic there, but I don't know if that's the best way to handle things. I mean, we tried that during the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and next thing you know we shipped a few Stinger missiles to the wrong people and accidentally created Al-Qaeda. At least we can be sure the USAF isn't going to create its own repressive warlord state in the remains (well, fairly sure at least).
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
