I am a great admirer of China. Mao Tse-tung created one of the best and most effective governments of the world. I have read a book about it. Sad that he was a communist, and a mass-murder. What if he had been a Christian, like Chiang Kai-shek, would China be the paradise on earth opposing US. capitalism and atheism? We'll never know.

I bet that kid in Tiannamen Square frickin' loved Mao...right before that tank plowed him over.
And what the f*ck is the argument here? That mass murderers make the best governments? IT RUBS TEH LOTION ON IT'S SKIN!
Or, maybe it wasn't his religion at all. Maybe the caused him to be a communist and a mass-murderer was that found that the best way for him to grab and hold power. Some Christians have been known to be power-hungry bastards too, you know.
Screw statism.
Screw fair trade.
Srew free trade.
Suecianus here, he giveth ye...static trade! Where no-one buys or sells! Not even with a mark!
Who's with him!
(deafening silence...)
Suecianus, I'm going to enlighten your, as usual, incredible ignorance.
a)Chang Kai Check was not Christian
b)Chang created Taiwan, state which is modelled after the Western democracy and has worked better than China until now but worse than America.
c)most dictatorships you admire are characteristic of poor countries. Spain, Portugal, Greece, Albania, Romania, Zimbabwe, Chile, etc............they have only slightly improved when capitalistic democracy style measures have been applied.
d)The richest countries in the world are democracies.
You can argue as much as you like, but the million of people who emigrate are clear on one thing, economy is neutral and dictatorships are not its pet.
No, He would have been a Christian Authoritarian instead of a Communist authoritarian.
And Chiang Kai Shek was no angel either. just not quite as crazy.
You admire Mao Tse-tung for being a dictator, but shun him for being a communist and mass murderer...then turn around and wonder if a Christian Mao Tse-tung would have set up a country opposing capitalism?
What the fuck are you smoking on?
You take books way serious, but if you believe the bible, I think you'll believe just about anything. DON'T read Mein Kampf...it might convince you, too.
"a)Chang Kai Check was not Christian

Old Chiang is considered somewhat of an Eastern world's Che Guevara, but like Che, he's a good deal more shady than his reputation would suggest. Taiwan didn't become a democracy until 1996, and before that there were several brutal crackdowns on civilians (notably the 228 incident), violation of human rights, oppression of the island's natives, etc. The reason the ROC is democratic today is basically that Chiang realized he simply couldn't run it as a rather hard line dictatorship and expect it to survive.
As for it working worse than America, I don't know how true this is except from the fact that it certainly has a better health system. Its environment is badly suffering due to the dense population and industry, though, and urban traffic is an NYC-style nightmare.
Effective government? by killing scholars, artists, and anyone who dared to voice discontent. He also loved virgins, the younger the better.
And you want other gov'ts modeled after this guy?
A fundie speaks in praise of a fucking paedophile?
(Yep, Mao was particularly fond of 11 year old virgins.)
It's about the point they start saying that Chian Kai-shek could have made a paradise that would oppose US atheism (hahahaha, what with?) that you really should dismiss their further opinions.
Yes Mao left a depressingly large body count, odd then that he is a far better character than that Chiang Kai-shek bastard.
Also, how would an imperialist China have opposed Capitalism and supported Christianity?
Chiang Kai-shek did indeed convert to Christianity. He also ran China into the ground conducting numerous murderous purges. When Mao kicked him off the mainland, the people were by and large quite happy with that turn of events.
Chiang ran the island of Formosa as a brutal dictatorship, and passed rule of the country over to his son. The country didn't even start having elections until twenty one years after his death.
So yeah, apparently if Mao were a Christian he would have been just as brutal and totalitarian, and way less competent of an administrator. Uh... yeah.

Communism is alright AS LONG AS IT'S DONE RIGHT.
Sadly, I've yet to find such an example. We should stick to democracy but even that system has its bad points.
And while Suecianus at least understands that mass-murder is bad, it contradicts his fierce stance on crusades waged by the Catholic Church in centuries past. What he's saying here is that while he doesn't like mass murder but he still supports the Crusades.
Self-contradiction, much?
So, exiling intellectuals and other urban folk to farm the countryside is "effective government"?
I think that explains a lot about this guys position, actually.
Eh, the line before this one is even worse:
"Your ungodly constitution is made to be violated. Same thing for the constitution of the kingdom of Sweden, or Germany, or Britian."
So this dude seriously needs to shut up and not spew this idiocy. It burns.
Additional note: The next poster (himself also Catholic) accused Suecianus of having a "seriously messed up world view." It's pretty funny when the members of the same church call each other out for messed up world views.
First, do your research. He sank China in a time of starvation and isolation that has been only recently overturned when, guess what?, they have become almost capitalists. And Chang Kai Check was not Christian in any way or shape. Instead of reading so many books, do a little of serious research.
Confused?
