When God gave the Law to Moses, He was very clear about the fact that if two (of the same sex) lie together, or "know" each other as man knows a woman, then those two were to be put to death, because "it is an abomination to God." God also destroyed the cities of the plains (Sodom and Gomorrah and a couple of others) because of their proclivity to homosexual behavior.

Now this does NOT mean that God doesn't love homosexuals.

There's nothing 'very clear' about homosexuality anywhere in the Bible.
Change "He was very clear about the fact" to "we think He meant" or there's another of those little laws (specifically a Commandment) that you're guilty of breaking.
"Now this NOT mean that God doesn't love homosexuals."
Of course he does, he loves them enough to let them burn in hell.
As has already been pointed out, fundies are fond of cherry picking the Biblical rules they feel should be observed by everyone, regardless of whether we believe in their god or not.
Shouldn't it be all or nothing?
Who's going to be first at stoning those shopping on Sundays?
"When God gave the Law to Moses,"
Can you prove God exists or existed? Can you prove Moses existed? Can you prove God gave anything, even a head-cold, to Moses?
"He was very clear about the fact that if two (of the same sex) lie together, or "know" each other as man knows a woman, then those two were to be put to death, because 'it is an abomination to God.'"
No, the Torah is very clear about God's displeasure with male homosexuals, I'll grant you, but it is much less clear concerning lesbians.
"God also destroyed the cities of the plains (Sodom and Gomorrah and a couple of others) because of their proclivity to homosexual behavior."
The Bible is unclear as to whether God destroyed S & G because of homosexuality or inhospitality or just what.
"Now this does NOT mean that God doesn't love homosexuals."
If that's true, then it means God kills people he loves. Why would you love a God who kills people he loves?
Actually it seems that God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gommorrah for varying reasons; inhospitality and raping (male) angels.
I love that little added tidbit. Ir's like the people who say something racist, but then say "but I'm not a racist!"
It would make a much shorter list to enumerate the things that aren't an abomination to God, who, it should be noted, is quite an abomination himself.
Funny that the 'Laws of Moses' is at the front of the bible, and the 'Rapture' is at the back of the bible, but fundies rarely seem to know much of anything from the middle of the bible.
Own up, guys, you got bored half way through Numbers and jumped to the end to see how it turns out, didn't you?!
F'shame!
god gave ten commandments to Moses. I can't find the one that says, Thou shalt not bugger.
I'd speculate that was one of the rules forced upon the Levites, but since nobody around here seems to be a Levite, I don't see any problems.
What percentage of these bible slaves consider themselves to be Levites, anyway?
why does your god have a problem with language and has to use phrases such as "know" each other, maybe he just means "know", as in " I know john" and when he says "lie together" he means, " be horizontal with". That is the literal interpretation.
On the same level with the Levitical ban on gay sex is the ban on making clothing of different threads, seating shellfish, cutting one's hair and some others that don't come to me right now because it's late at nigh. Anyway, they are all ABOMINATION, neither one is worse than another. They are all equally baaaad! So be sure that you havne't p[erformed an abomination by wearing cotton/synthetic socks, for example - it's just as bad as two men lying with each other. Perhaps I should be sending for the Socks Police to have you stoned to death. But if you promise to be good, I';ll overlook it on this occasion.
Sodom & Gomorrah never existed. there is just no archaeological evidence for them. And besides, the sin of Sodom was the denial of hospitality towards strangers - read Jeremiah more closely. He'll tell you. It's all there.
You see, those with prejudices (Godd Christian, but with prejudices nonetheless) picked their favourite sins to go soning about, and they forgot that there are others just as important. Now the Lawd may ask some questions about this and refuse to Rapture up those who wnet down this path. If you want to be Raptured, they you have to abide by all thos abominations.
Do not lie with a man as with a woman. It doesn't say if you are a man dont fuck a man. It says don't lie with one the same way you would with a woman. Which, lets face it, is anatomicly impossible anyway. Fuck men like men and women like women and you'll be ok.
So, which of the ten commandments was that, again? Do you even know what they are? Because the law given to Moses was the ten commandments. The priests received the rest. Or so the story goes.
But, anyway, you do realize that the verse you quote is from about 30 years after Jesus died, right?
God also destroyed the cities of the plains (Sodom and Gomorrah and a couple of others) because of their proclivity to homosexual behavior.
If that's what you believe, what do you think about the fact that the villagers were trying to rape angels? Which one is worse? If you say "homosexuality", you are a truly despicable person. Oh - you might want to reread Judges again. You obviously missed the very familiar story in that book. If you ever read it.
Now this does NOT mean that God doesn't love homosexuals.
So...putting people to death for having consentual, loving sexual intercourse and wiping out the populations of two entire cities are demonstrations of love? What, did your mother spank you good night or something?

You do realize the text is originally written in a language where the use of 'know' = 'have sexual intercourse with' is perfectly normal usage?
It's fun when you find out that the way it was written was to declare one male dominating another using sex the way males dominated females an abomination...
The way it's written makes male/male rape an abomination, but consensual male/male sex perfectly fine... which ties in very well with why Sodom was destroyed.
Why is it fundies don't know things about their own holy book?
*facepalm*
Non-Contradiction award.
Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because they were overrun with sin. There is NO implicit mention to sex of any manner being the cause, primary or otherwise.
The Laws God gave to Moses, as I understand it, were the Ten Commandments, which make NO mention to homosexual relationships at all, asiding from adultery, which is equally applicable to straight couples.
And if you want to start introducing Levitican law...
Hitler blamed the Jews for the depression and the hard economic times Germany was facing. He decided to perform a Final Solution to deal with them. He would send them all to camps where most would be gassed to death, some would be beaten, starved or worked to death, and others used in gruesome medical experiments.

Now this does NOT mean that Hitler hated Jews.
"Now this does NOT mean that God doesn't love homosexuals."
So why can't you lot on Ruptured Retards? Or accept - and trust - President Obama? Romans 13: 1-7 orders you to.
Oh, and proof that you lot on Ruptured Retards don't read your Bible? The reason why God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah was because they were uncivilised and impolite to Lot & co. Also because they refused Lot when he offered his own daughters to them to do as they wished. (if anything, the fact they didn't proved they were infinitely more moral than Lot) Homosexuality doesn't enter into it.*
*- Pun certainly not intended! X3
Strange then, that he did not include "Thou shalt not lie with people of the same sex" in the Ten Commandments.
Was it the Pythons that did a sketch where Moses drops the 11th through 20th Commandments, and breaks them? Maybe the Commandment above was included in those broken tablets...
You need to read up on the cause of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
