There is also the influence of the communist BBC from which the Irish get most of their news. I have always been a proud Irishman my parents were born in Ireland and most of my relatives are still there but after the Irish voted to kill their babies and their future I took all my Irish books about history , culture and folklore and threw them all in the dust bin along with any Irish flags I had. I no longer celebrate St. Patrick’s day because I am ashamed to be Irish.

My family tree probably has a good many drunks and wastrels, but to our credit, none of them were Irish. The Irish of today, however, have redeemed themselves by refusing to let the church make all the rules, and I fervently wish the Americans would follow suit.
BBC is communist? I'd have guessed that is was sort-of-right-wing-liberal, as many media conglomerates are. But, as a Swede, I don't have full info on British media.
So, all Irish history and culture became paria, when women were given rights to their own bodies?
St Patrick voted for abortion? I thought he chased away all snakes from Ireland, or something equally silly.
Irish women "in trouble" in the past, often went across the border to have abortions, right? When abortion was illegal in Sweden (before I was born), Swedish women went to Poland to have abortions. Now abortions are getting more and more illegal in Poland, and guess where Polish women go to have abortions? To SWEDEN! Prohibiting abortions will never stop abortions (only proper sex-ed and available/affordable contraceptives will reduce the number significantly), it will only stop SAFE abortions, and force abortions to be done elsewhere.
A zygote isn't a baby! Nobody is killing babies!
Babies are round little guys who wear diapers and cry and look cute.
Abortion flush out microscopic to rice-sized....things.
So shut up with "Killing babies"!

So you'll celebrate St. George's Day? The likes of the DUP do, so there's really no reason why you shouldn't .
If they don't want a hard border with Catholic Eire, then who's in error ...?!
I've never been more glad to have about 25% Irish blood!
Don't celebrate anything; I'll go to the Dublin House, eat killer bangers & mash, then come home & watch the Boondock Saints.
Some people are just no fun.
@ Swede
The BBC is thought by right wing people to have a left wing bias. It is a UK service which means it is broadcasted from within Northern Ireland. I suppose the Irish in the Irish Republic pick it up either from there or from the bits of Great Britain (the biggest island) which are closest, like Wales.
Regarding your comment: In the past, and even now (as the facilities aren't running yet) women who want abortions go across the sea to Great Britain, not over the border to Northern Ireland. While Northern Ireland is part of the UK, it has its own set of rules and the DUP, who are Fundies, are in charge there.
I suppose it is telling that you appear to have had no problems at all with the era where Irish citizens were blowing the shit out of each but now giving women rights of control over their own bodies (when up until fairly recently, they might have just been shot at or blown up) is wrong in your pathetic little mind.

Raidió Teilifís Éireann is partly like the BBC: a semi-state broadcaster.
A Fine Gael gently blowing across the Emerald Isle. Leo Varadkar is now Taoiseach .
As Penn Jillette would say - along with your 'history, culture, folklore, flags & St. Patrick's Day' - 'Into the trash you go '. [/meme]
You know about Tuam right? All those babies in septic tanks? The Magdalene laundries? The babies who were stolen from their mothers and adopted by American couples?
What do you know about how Ireland is throwing away it's future?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
