For the people who worked in the twin towers and even the people of NYC, in a very short period of time things had changed quite a bit.
The world seems to be that way. One storm can bring about more change than 100 years of normal weather.
How do evos reconcil that changes come about so fast yet their theory calls for slow, gradual change.

Fucking shit you are a retard. I mean, I already knew that but, fucking shit! What I can't reconcile is the fact that you appear to be a human man, yet you have the intelligence and reasoning skills of chewed gum. You are a stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid man. And you are stupid.
Urgh... The stupid is strong in this one.
Evolutionary Theory states that inheritable changes come about slowly, and even that is debatable. But the debate on how fast it occurs, does not change the fact that it does occur.

Just because conditions on earth change doesn't mean life immediately evolves to deal with it. In fact, that's often why plants and animals go extinct. One of the problems with creationism is that it has no mechanism to deal with changes: everything is assumed to have been made in its current form 6,000 years ago without a way to adjust when storms, etc. change things. Only a dumb or uninterested god would do things that way. A smart god would make life automatically adaptable.
Wow. He needs an award for drawing a connection between 9/11 and evolution, 'cause, brother, that's bloody amazing.
John, google the phrase "punctuated equilibrium" -- no, wait, don't bother. You'll only screw that up, too.

Well, if evolution worked that way the dinosaurs would've survived that comet that smacked into the earth some 65 million years ago.
Of course, that would mean we wouldn't exist, since the small mammals that survived the comet wouldn't have risen to domination against all the invulnerable comet-proof thunder lizards!
It's called genetic drift. Changes in genotype frequency caused by random events. Can be very important in small populations in small areas. Large populations are affected less. It STILL takes a long time for these changes to completely resolve.
JohnR7, there is nothing you can say that I am not prepared for... NO THAT'S NOT A CHALLENGE!
g-21-lto: Thanks! 99% perspiration, and all that.
Jed: Eh, I just googled it. I suppose I should have linked to the website where I found the script. I would like to own the original 1977 theatrical release, but from where I'm sitting the series has become something for him to flog when he wants a larger vault to swim in, a la Scrooge McDuck.
If JohnR7 is a troll, he is the most disturbingly dedicated troll I have ever seen. He has 22,398 posts over on Christianforums.com.
Taking trolling to that level would qualify as a serious mental disorder, and he never breaks character. JohnR7 is real.
Yeah - slow, gradual change, in species, over generations.
Buildings collapsing is catastrophic, like when someone has a heart attack.
...I should've voted it a 5 on the Fundie scale the moment I saw the name.
This thing should not be on a computer. If there was any justice, he'd be floating on top of the retention basin out back, belly up.
I remember you lot saying Jesus saved all mankind from sin. Yet acts af war, Nuclear plant meltdowns and natural disasters still occur.
How do you Christians explain all this?
You're the ones that claim special insight, relevant answers, why do you never produce anything of value?
Oh, and those "evos"? They're seldom surprised of the destructive nature of man or religious men. History's full of terrible events.

Slow, gradual, GENTIC changes.
Not technology or living standards, social norms.
My grandfather grew up measuring the distance to Jackson Hole from his home by days on horseback. I grew up to program nuclear weapons on a nuclear submarine. But gentically, we’re not that different from people in Ancient Rome. We’re taller, but that’s from better nutrition and not lining our waterpipes with lead.
In other words, there’s really nothing to reconcile, you’re talking apples and airborne infantry.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
