Daddy done always say I'se gots shit fer brains!
I found this elsewhere. But I don't remember the link. Yeah, that's it...
It makes more sense when you see his entire post:
The Earth is n-millions of years old, but has only been in existence for 6000 years.
The Earth has had life on it for only 6000 years - (Genesis 1).
In short he's a fundie who isn't trying to deny science's ability to date the Earth, be he refuses to accept the mountains of undeniable evidence that animal and plant life has existed for more than 6,000 years. I suppose he thinks his statement sounds more believable if he doesn't join the other idiots in saying science is completely wrong.
Standard Old Earth Creationist theory. Less irritating than most other creationist theories because of 2 things: First, they are NOT trying to deny the mountains of evidence for the age of the earth, and secondly, they have found a loophole that is fairly hard to refute even by the fundies. Goes like this: "If God can do anything at all, why couldn't he have made the earth ALREADY millions of years old when he created it? He's done this before, after all, since Adam and Eve were created as adults, not children.
I don't mind this one, because they at least accepting the scientific evidence for the age of the earth. There is hope for them since they don't automatically reject anything that conflicts with their faith, but are attempting to find a way to accept it.
Still, a bit silly, but if you are going to believe in an all-powerful God...
@Crembels
"read your own post" award. Seconded.
Cognitive dissonance at its finest. I can understand believing stupid but logically possible things despite the evidence (it's depressing to see it, but it's not completely insane), but believing two mutually contradictory statements where the contradiction is so bloody obvious that it can't just be a matter of "I didn't think it through far enough to see that"?
Seriously, WTF mate?
Julian, some of them do, they take the "Scientific Creationism" approach, the one that says God used evolution to create human beings.
This guys a pharmacy technician? And he doesn't believe in evolution ? I take it he doesn't care about how many drugs people use, after all, the bacteria and virii don't get any more resistant to it. How silly of us!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
