Atheism and Immoral Views
The Barna Group also found that atheists/agnostics in America were more likely, than theists in America, to look upon the following behaviors as morally acceptable: illegal drug use; excessive drinking; sexual relationships outside of marriage; abortion; cohabitating with someone of opposite sex outside of marriage; obscene language; gambling; pornography and obscene sexual behavior; engaging in homosexuality/bisexuality.

Conversely, conservatives lie their asses off while indulging in said behaviors.
To us, hypocrisy is morally unacceptable.
Doctor Fishcake, who is an Agnostic and Straight Edge , says:
FAIL.
Need I go over the old "Bible Belt is America's teenage pregnancy heartland" stats yet again?
illegal drug use; depends on the drug
excessive drinking; not good
sexual relationships outside of marriage; if you're already married to someone else, then that's cheating and it's not good. if you're not cheating, then it's fine.
abortion; personally, i'm pro-life, but honestly i'm completely okay with other people making different choices.
cohabitating with someone of opposite sex outside of marriage; why not?
obscene language; not around people who might be offended
gambling; just don't let it become an addiction
pornography and obscene sexual behavior; that's all cool
engaging in homosexuality/bisexuality. two. consenting. adults.
From the Barna Website:
The Barna Group provides primary research (through The Barna Research Group); printed resources (through BarnaBooks, an imprint of Tyndale); leadership development; spiritual training; and church facilitation and enhancement. We seek to use our strengths in partnership with Christian ministries and individuals to be a catalyst in moral and spiritual transformation in the United States. We accomplish these outcomes by providing vision, information, strategy, evaluation and resources.
Is it any surprise that all their research is theist biased?
Personally, I wouldn't believe a word they told me without checking an impartial source first.
A lot of stupid pious fundy Christians ALSO engaged in the above behaviors, but I guess that's OK because they're fundies and/or Rethuglicans. Sorry, but to a large extent they're one and the same. Of course, a dumb website like Conservapedia will never admit what hypocrites conservative 'Christians' are.
I love these tests!
Illegal drug use: I like pot. Much less harmful then booze.
Excessive Drinking: Alcohol is evil, so many problems in society from alcohol...ask any cop what the biggest problem is and the answer is ALWAYS alcohol, yet alcohol is OK with the bible. I heard Jesus H. made some pretty good chablis.
Sex outside of marriage: Yes, guilty as charged. If anyone is interested please email me.
Cohabitation: No way!
Obscene Language: Fuck that
Gambling: I'll bet that this statistic is wrong.
Porno: Love it
Obscene Sexual Behavior: Please define (and demonstrate)
Homo/Bi: Whatever floats your boat.
@ JohntheAtheist: Also, atheists tend to be much funnier than Evangelical Christians.
I'll bet atheists/agnostics in America are also less likely to go to church, listen to gospel music, read the Bible, and pray.
Atheists/agnostics are less offended by victimless behaviors then theists are, huh? Atheists/agnostics are also probably more likely to be offended by behaviors that hurt others or infringe on the rights of others, than behaviors that don't. Further, all atheists and agnostics seem to offer to defend this position is rational thought.
What a bunch of weirdos.
The Grigadil Gang, after a decade of experimenting, found that Conservaweenies in America were more likely than atheists to look upon the following behaviors as morally acceptable: criticism of drugs; criticism of drinking; criticism of all sexual relationships; criticism of reproductive choices (except one); criticism of any social contact outside of marriage; criticism of language; criticism of fucking everything; gambling on a magic daddy to fix things; keeping their minds in the gutter.
Most of those things does not harm anyone, so yes, most of those things are morally acceptable. Drug and alcohol use while driving or operating heavy machinery can harm others, so that is immoral, and illegal. Regarding sex outside of marriage: as long as both are unmarried and uninvolved, it does not harm anyone. Being unfaithful, whether you're married or not, that harms your significant other, so that is NOT morally acceptable. Obscene language just shows that you are short of words, not morally corrupt.
The atheists/agnostics of the world are too few to feed the humongous enterprise of gambling, pornography and drug-dealing.
A lot of the theists probably find these things morally non-acceptable, yes, but they engage anyway, in secret.
Huh, I only cuss on occasion...
Wow, I suck at being an atheist/agnostic.
illegal drug use: Depends on the drug, pot isn't really any worse then booze, and maybe less bad, heroin, crack and methamphetamine are bad.
excessive drinking: unfortunate but forgivable as long as you aren't pregnant and you don't try to drive while drunk
extra-marital sex: who does it hurt, as long as you aren't married to somebody else
abortion: whatever
cohabiting: Harmless, and none of anybody else's business
obscene language: Seriously? This gets on a list with all those hot-button issues? You really are a total prude aren't you?
gambling: Fine in moderation.
pornography: Why should anybody else care if somebody wants to look at pictures and videos of other people having sex and people want to make videos of themselves having sex? Just as long as there's no minors involved.
homosexual and bisexuality: why is it anybody else's business what sexual activities consenting adults do with whom in private?
Meanwhile, creationists are more likely to look upon the following behaviors as morally acceptable: capital punishment, child abuse, xenophobia, lying, warmongering, weapons use, egoism, persecution.
It seems that atheists are being more accepting of things of that are of slightly questionable morality but not inherently harmful. And this is somehow portrayed as "immoral views".
At the risk of being obscene: fuck right off, Conservapedia. Fuck right the hell off.
Does the question (and I suspect it does) go anything like this?
"Do Atheists embrace everything wrong with society?"
or
"Are Christians morally right and Atheists always wrong?"
or
"Can society prosper without God and the church or will it be doomed by Atheists?"
While Christians find hypocrisy, intolerance, paedophilia (seriously where is the concern for children when it is someone like Josh Duggar?), etc.
Confused?
