How to make Satan fart:
Hadith no: 582 bakhari
Narrated / Authority of: Abu Huraira
Allah's Apostle said, "When the Adhan is pronounced Satan takes to his heels and passes wind with noise during his flight in order not to hear the Adhan. When the Adhan is completed he comes back and again takes to his heels when the Iqama is pronounced and after its completion he returns again till he whispers into the heart of the person (to divert his attention from his prayer) and makes him remember things which he does not recall to his mind before the prayer and that causes him to forget how much he has prayed."

Say what?
If you have any problems with it`s placement here simply read this out loud and contemplate how hillarious and idiotic it sounds.
Making invisible ghosts fart is as retarded and silly as they go.
@ Skidie
Oh, I agree that it sounds stupid, but I wasn't aguing that. I was arguing that it doesn't make sense to put an old tradition in FSTDT.
FSTDT is supposed to be an account of modern things. Would it make sense if I was to submit the Pro-slavery tracts of Thomas Jefferson? Or the Malleus Maleficarum? Or John Knox's The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstruous Regiment of Women, written in 1558?
All these things count as fundie, and if anything like them was written today, would be fair game. But acting like silly traditions written in totally different time periods should be reacted to like modern day fundies is just inappropriate, especially since this quote isn't really bigoted or hateful, just silly. Should I also submit the stories my mother told me about Cú Chulainn or Maui when I was growing up? People used to swear those were true too.
Bottom line, FSTDT is about mocking and examining modern day bigots and weirdos, not shitting over old religious traditions.
@Ivurm:
Hey, as it happens Satan is my personal hero figure and I do not appreciate inflicting gasses(and who knows what other gastric problems) on the noble creature :P
Seriously though, didn`t get that it`s that old a tradition.
@ Skidie
I think they're old traditions. In Islam, a Hadith is a quote from The Prophet Muhammad on a topic. Obviously, the Prophet words where divinely inspired by Allah, so he was, of course, the highest authority on the subject.
One gets the impression that Muhammad was making fun of Satan here. Nothing to make Satan lose street cred than telling everybody he farts as loud as he can to avoid hearing Allah's words.
Plus a big part of Abrahamic religion is how pathetic and gross the devil is.

Duly Noted
This is from the 7th century. This must be the record for the oldest post submitted to FSTDT.
Ivurm has it exactly right, except for the last sentence. For "Abrahamic religion," read "Christianity and Islam." In Judaism, evil is abstract (Yetzer ha-ra) and Satan is a prosecuting angel rather than a tempter.
Okay, Islam is stupid, we know. But in this case shouldn't we also be submitting the Old Testament, or more relevantly the New Testament or stupid things the Church Fathers said?
Why would I want to make ANYONE fart? Is this a weird Islamic Eproctophiliac writing this?
Out of all the amazing mystical super-powers, making Ol' Scratch gassy is the dumbest thing I've ever heard!
I know it's from an ancient text and tradition but I just have to wonder why some guy over a thousand years ago decided to write THIS.
@Spuki:
Hey, maybe it`s because I wasn`t raised as a girl but I for one find a well placed fart hillarious and I believe a devils fart would be by its very necessity that much funnier!
EDIT: Goes double for burps, get me and hubbz a few liters of cider or beer and you can`t help but admire the symphony of the bowels.
An ancient tradition... and quite possibly an ancient joke, too.
I'm laughing my ass off and I feel like this is the kinda thing that makes Muslim children giggle - the thought of a devil that they can make fart at will.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
