Actually, the leading cause of divorce is marriage. So, to stop divorces from happening, shouldn't we (logically) just ban all marriages?
Seeing as how the divorce rates and the teen pregnancy rates are high in the south, I foresee a need for "baby trains" taking infants born out of wedlock to married couples in Massachusetts, with its lower divorce rate.
I hope the poster would also advocate taking away the pulpit of any preacher or televangelist who had been divorced. Things would be a lot quieter.
Since many states won't let the gay people who get married in Mass. get divorced, we can give the kids to them, right? I mean, it's only the logical experimental test of this concept.

Banning divorce would not be biblical. Even Moses gave out provisions for divorce. Granted they were terribly sexist and unfair but they did exist.
You ban divorce, you'll see the marriage rate in this country plummet faster than Bush's approval ratings. Unless you're simultaneously going to impose the equivalent of Shariah law on the country and force women into marriages, but in that case, you can just move to Saudi Arabia and the rest of us will remain quite comfortable here in the land of the friggin FREE, asswipe.

It would also encourage abusive spouses to be more abusive and crowd our orphanages with children that will never be adopted. But its all in the name of 'Good' huh.

And stiff consequences aren't much of a deterrent for a lot of people. Just look at all the marijuana cases in jail right now.
It's interesting that this guy advocates taking away children born out of wedlock. If one of the major reasons that people worry about contraception is that they'll have to take care of a baby, and then they don't because it's confiscated, might this not INCREASE the number of babies born out of wedlock?
Also, it would be nearly impossible to enforce any kind of ban on divorce. What would the police have to do? Force them to live in a house together even as they don't talk to each other?

Funny, my daughter, born out of wedlock, tells me about the trashy mouths and fighting going on at school and it's almost always kids who are Christian and always kids born to married parents. Now, she's not perfect, but she knows Mama is a whoop-ass and that she won't get away with such behaivor.
And how, pray tell, will the government raise all those millions of children without (gasp!) spending your tax dollars to raise them? So your alternative is 1) more than half of all marriages, even though both people are unhappy, have to continue no matter what happens, and 2) the government would have to fund expensive orphanages to raise the millions of children born outside marriage.

One of the most ironic things is that the main article is misleadingly pointing out that these attitudes cost million on taxes. After all, it's all about the money. Now, let me put it this way, if children born out of wedlock are taken away from their parents, who work and otherwise have a stable relationship even if not married, how much do you think it will cost?, or do you think that they will stop having children out of wedlock?. No sir, they will keep on and the state will have to pay a lot of money because they will have to keep them. Or not?. Maybe they will have more. One of the most problematic aspects, that is, raising the child, is over. The state will take care of them..............start taking the calculator.

If you read Robert Altemeyer's research on authoritarian personalities, you'll find that this is one of the more curious characteristics of authoritarian followers. If you choose any one of a list of issues and ask if they believe it to be the #1 most important problem facing our society, they are highly likely to say yes, whether you said "gay marriage" or "islamist terrorism". This holds even if you ask them the same question, using a different issue, only minutes later.

I think we need a constitutional amendment to ban any religion that attempts to force itself on the public at large in any way, and anyone caught practicing their religion outside of their own home or church/synagogue/temple/mosque should be instantly deported. This will put a stop to this destructive behavior that is going to be the downfall of our society.
