[Stating that people believed this in the past doesn't make it correct. Many people believed that Zeus was the cause of lightning bolts a little over 2000 years ago.]
Is everything you don't understand a fairy tale to you, Chalnoth, or can you think on your own?

AV1611VET has an interesting tagline:
"If it disagrees with the King James Bible - it's wrong."
This tag says fundie more than the post itself and VET completely avoided answering direct questions, prior, about sin contained within the 'y' chormosome.
Demarcated Iron Mirror
PassingThrough: Yes, AV1611VET is the raging hard-on for the King James version of the bible. This guy is so dense, he formes his own black hole of brain matter. As you know, brain matter is sucked up by it and never to be released until the cold death of the universe (which is in something like 10^64 years). Until then, this guy will not understand any thing he is told.
Well, following that logic, what is the Bible, after all?. I think you shouldn´t be so candid in the topic "thinking on our own"(by the way, did you know that at the sixteenth century it was thought that the sun turned around the Earth?, or that the Mayan people were descendants of the last of the Israelite tribes?)
Novum - go search and see what else this idiot has been submitted for. He things the KJV is absolute fact! He's trying to say the bible isn't a fairy tale, and he's trying to say people claiming it is, don't actually understand it!
A well deserved irony award!

I'm familiar with this poster and I'm well aware that he's posted some crazy stuff in the past.
This current quote, however, is not religious, nor is it fundie. It's stupid, but this website doesn't collect stupid quotes - it collects fundie quotes. I maintain that this quote doesn't belong.
No more anemia! Thank you AV1611VET! You've cured me!
Novum
Are you serious? You know of him, and he tells someone not to believe in fairy tales and that's not fundie? You do realize also that fundamentalists exist in other forms other then religious ones, correct? Is not a geek in a Jar-Jar outfit waiting in line for two months to see a movie a fundie? The KKK? Bush supporters? AV1611VET is the epitome of fundie, this is just another example.
Novum has a point. Looking just at the quote, it's the most reasonable one from VET we can expect ever.
Most of "Death by Irony Overdose" awards are of this kind. You cannot just read the quote, you have to know the poster or enter the link.
I agree with the award. Still waiting for some quote worth of "Catastrophic end of the world by ironic critical mass reaction" award. We're living in the edge.
"Novum has a point. Looking just at the quote, it's the most reasonable one from VET we can expect ever."
Indeed. We're not here to rate fundies themselves; we're here to rate the quotes that they make. The identity of the poster behind the quote should not influence the quote's eligibility to be on the site - otherwise, we'd just be discriminating based on the poster.
This quote is simply not religious, nor can it be construed as fundie - it's just stupid. It doesn't belong on this site.
"I think it belongs. AV1611VET has proven his fundieness here before. He has proven his dumbness here before.
Now this fundie expresses doubt that someone else can't think. That qualifies as a fundie saying a dumb thing."
What if someone else had said it? What if I, an atheist, said it?
You are discriminating based on the poster - you're arguing in favor of including this quote simply because you know the poster to be a fundie. It's irrelevant to you what the content of the quote may be. That's garbage; it's no way to select quotes for this site.
Just to get (a bit more) picky, the site is "Fundies say...", it's about the fundies themself, rather than just their quotes. Everyone says something very stupid (and fundamentalist) sometimes, it's just when you repeat it several times and is clear that you think it that you get tagged as fundie. The background counts.
No, the quote itself doesn't really scream 'fundy'. Ergo, it doesn't belong.
A man talking about how women are weapons of Satan, is a fundy quote.
I just...
Words aren't enough. The English language is insufficient to describe my utter bewilderment. But I'll try.
First of all, that response doesn't even match the comment being replied to - it's actually diametrically opposed to it. He's taking a claim of skepticism and using it to argue the gullibility of the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigighhh
My brain won't do it anymore.
WTF'd.
Everything I don't understand I need to educate myself more about. In the grander scale I'm unimportant, what I don't understand only refers to my understanding. There are a large amount of people much smarter and more educated than me, who DO understand everything that we has as yet discovered. Some of these people will discover even more things, and even less things will then be seen as magic or mysterious.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
