Feminism is destroying everything women's lib fought so hard to achieve.

If he means wacko radical feminism, of say Andrea Dworkin's ilk, can be detrimental to some of the advancements of the women's lib movement, then there is a grain of truth in there. However, with the broad brush Q uses, he ends up just being wrong.
If by feminism you mean those who believe women should be superior, yes. However, your choice of wording suggests that you mean feminism itself. That would be wrong, however.
*I personally would like to know the difference between feminism and women's lib. I thought they were different words for the same thing...
Due to the work of such people as Andrea Dworkin, the word "Feminism" has taken on a starkly negative connotation among many moderates and conservatives.
Why?
The militant wing of the feminist movement. This militant wing is out for female superiority, and effectively wants to replace the patriarchal system with a matriarchal system. This mindset is 100% contrary to the mainline feminist movement, which simply wants equality. However, as the militants are far more vocal it is their message that has become associated.
Skyfire, I have to respectfully disagree. What you're describing is a straw man almost wholly created by conservative anti-feminists. Andrea Dworkin was very disturbing to listen to sometimes, no question, but she was not trying to forge some sort of matriarchy. She was many things but a fool wasn't one of them.
I'm sorry, but this kind of thing just kills me. No one here would say such things about homosexual or racial equality movements, that their "militant" wing taints the movement. Do we let the media or fundamentalists define the terms of either of those movements for us? Hell no, nor should we.
There may be a handful of women out there who wish all men would just up and die. There may be African Americans who wish whites would just up and die. Why should either get any more credibility?
It's nonsense. I'm sorry. I'll shut up.
*Why should either get any more credibility?
It's not that they get more credibility; it's that they get more screen time.
The inventing of radio, television, and now the internet has completely changed the way things work. In the past, radicals could easily be brushed aside by the majority. Nowadays, the radicals can buy time and get a Geocities account.
End result?
As the average person does not take sufficient time to study the issues, they'll just look at what is in the media and treat it as the absolute fact. If the radicals are better at getting their message out - which is the case with feminism - then people will treat the radicals as the movement itself.
Feminism would have done itself a favour if it had chosen another name.
Now, whatever Q understands by "feminism", he'd seem to be flat-out wrong; I don't see the female vote being withdrawn anywhere, or women being forced out of the workplace.
Confused?
