[On the subject of whether or not Criss Angel is an ordinary human being, or if he has supernatural powers]
I vote supernatural. There's simply no way to levitate from building to building without some sort of powers.
I just find it impossible to even see how he does the things that he does. Seriously he vanished a 4 and a half ton elephant right in front of people and the people had made a human wall around it.
Also, there's been many thoughts of how he did the water trick, plexiglass blocks etc, but how the hell do you cut yourself in half and then have people walk through it?
[Later in the thread, clarifying his view on Criss Angel]
lol no if anything i think he's closer to a demon than to an angel. but seriously if anyone watches like just one of his shows the things he does are just baffling, the only reason you wouldn't believe he is super-natural is b/c you don't believe in such a thing.

Oh my god, this reminds me of a coworker. We had this exact conversation. It went like this:
Him: You know Criss Angel?
Me: No, who's that?
Him: He does magic tricks.
Me: Oh.
Him: No...I mean REAL magic tricks. He's a black magician and worships Satan.
Me: Uh huh.
Him: No really, I saw this video where he cut a girl in half!
Me: How can you not know how that trick is done?
Him: No, this one was different man, I swear!
Me: You can't cut someone in half with magic because that is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE!
Him: You can if it's through SATAN!
Me: I don't give a damn what the source is, it's still physically impossible. Look, don't you think if that video you saw proved he could cut someone in half - or was even POSSIBLE EVIDENCE he could cut someone in half - scientists would be all over it?
Him: Well it depends how much they care.
Me: And why wouldn't they? That sort of, you know, defies all physics as we know it.
Him: Well everyone knows, no matter how much they deny it, that sorcery exists and is just something evil people do, but nobody likes to talk about it much because it's evil.
I gave up at that point. It saddens me to think people out there are actually gullible enough to believe stage magicians have occult powers. Though I'm sure the magicians themselves are thrilled. ;)
Gonzalez--Don't listen to these playa-hatas on fstdt.com. I AM magic, and am slightly closer to a demon than an angel (angel is just my last name-- no connection to real angels). You are one astute television viewer, my friend.
Keep believin!
Criss

Big deal. I've seen that trick done with a two storey high mining truck. And then I saw the magician show how it was done. Care to guess how? I'll give you a hint: nothing that could possibly be called "magic" or "supernatural" was involved.
Arthur Conan Doyle thought much the same thing about Houdini; they were actually friends, but Houdini thought Doyle was just being ridiculous.
To this day, some people say the same thing about people like James Randi -- that he's really psychic but he lies about it to discredit other psychics. In fact, IIRC, some loser recently tried to sue Randi on those grounds.
"He has superpowers because he's from Krypton."
Silly Spak! Everybody knows that Criss Angel is an ordinary human being. ... Who was bitten by a radioactive spider.
I do believe the magician himself has stated that all of his illusions are just that: illusions.
And most of his tricks are old ones, just with new aesthetics. They've been done many times, by many people, and the tricks behind quite a few of them have been revealed.
As for "no way to levitate from building to building without some sort of powers," have you ever heard of a fun little theatrical device called a 'flying system'? It utilizes thin, near-invisible-from-a-distance suspended wires to simulate flight.
Man, you're gullible. I bet I could convince you I had magic powers with the old detachable-thumb trick, huh?
The only "magic" involved in the trick is how well they can pull them off. I love to know how the stuff is done, but I love watching those tricks after knowing how it's done, because then I get to appreciate their skill.
He's just a really annoying street magician who insulted my religion by misusing the term "kinetic energy" to levitate a lightbulb. No, Criss, kinetic energy is what this bat has. It's moving! *thwack* Now it's not!
Funny thing, I'm not in particular a fan of Criss Angel myself. He just never really impressed me.
But I'll give him credit for this, he's never seriously claimed to be anything more than a magician/illusionist. If you were to ask him whether or not his powers were supernatural, he'd tell you himself that they weren't.
It's a trick!
Well done tricks appear impossible BECAUSE THEY ARE. You've been fooled by well-crafted illusion.
I'm still more impressed by close up card manipulation, I don't see how they do it but I know it's trickery (that somehow works within the distraction of the hand looking like its pulling off the top when the lower fingers are pulling from the middle or bottom) These guys would freak with that type of skill displayed right in front of them, Sensible people are just impressed.
Some of the reactions from people when Blaine (using him because he does street magic and encounters an unsuspecting audience) does his tricks are of absolute fear, they're terrified and some have literally sprinted away. That's a Fundie
You keep missing the part where Angel himself said that his tricks are just that, tricks. No magical force, no demonic help, just good ol' illusion.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
