[In reply to theories of evolutionary psychology]
Do you realize you just said theory. Faith sounds a lot better than theory.

Faith sounds a lot better than theory.
Only to someone who has watched too many Hovind or Ham videos.
When it comes to science, I would prefer to hear scientists talk about theories rather than faith.
"So, Dr. Frankenstein, are you sure this will work?"
"I have faith!"
"Oh, sh-"
And the theory that enables you to type in this computer, or that enables you to live over fourty, is it far worse than a faith that it´s always transitory?. If you´re ok, no problem, but don´t expect people to be convinced.
"Faith, n. Belief without evidence in what is told by one without knowledge, of things without parallel."
Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary
Evo psych is still an iffy field that's viewed with skepticism from other science fields, but you make me appreciate its efforts to actually be, ya know, scientific.
So, you propose that we should determine the truth of competing assertions based on which one has the most positive connotation to the human ear. Hmmm. For some reason, I'm not sure it will beat the scientific method.
When you get sick, what plan do you follow for dealing with it?
A) A plan based on germ theory (i.e. rest and medicine), or
B) A plan based on faith (i.e. prayer)
If you chose A we will mock you as a hypocrite. If you chose B you are probably dead.
"Faith sounds a lot better than theory"
...and if we're on that level, then 'Faith' sounds just like FAIL. PROTIP: 'Belie f'. You cannot spell that without the word LIE.
Do you realise what you just said?
...oh, and 'God' spelled backwards is Dog . And to further blow your single brain cell, 'Stressed' spelled backwards is Desserts too! [Doug Piranha-levels of sarcasm]
" 'cause I gotta have theory,,, Yeah, you're right guys, faith sounds better,, let's get this gay track down now"
