Well, at last science and religion have found each other in one opinion; they both loathe ID.
Of course, science does so because ID is creationism pretending not to be christian, and religion because ID iz a bit too scientificerally, like one of 'em fancy interlectuals...but at least it's something.
Oh so that's why scientists don't want it taught in public schools? Oh wait a minute...

Actually, it's the other way around. Google "wedge document" sometime.
So it's agreed, then? Everyone, both the fundies and us normal people, think intelligent design is ridiculous? Good.
Ironically, intelligent design was "designed" for the opposite purpose -- to sneakily convert us "evolutionists" (and, presumably, the "gravitationalists" and "earth-is-roundolutionists") first to intelligent design, and then to creationism, since the two are basically the same thing. The whole "wedge strategy" thing.
Wow, you are a bit confused, aren't you? You'd have been right if you'd ended your sentence after "ploy", but after that you ended up tying yourself into a pretzel.
It actually doesn't surprise me. ID is such a stupid concept that fundies may well confuse it with other stupid concepts creationist come up with they claim are scientific principles to dishonestly undermine science. Like when they claim science said the world was flat but the Bible said it's a sphere, projection.
The defender of ID, the only creationist with a biology degree, Behe, actually created a new term for what science is so he could shoehorn Irriducable Complexity and Intelligent Design in. At the Dover trial he was obligated to admit, by his own definition of science, that Astrology and Alchemy or damn near any supernatural belief would fit his definition. Loser.
The creationist camp has put out so much misinformation now they're confusing their own flock. It's especially the word "intelligent" that throws them here.

ID was invented to get God into science classes.
But watch. Every time a school board is taken to court, they spend their time INSISTING that ID is Science! SCIENCE! SCIENCE, I tell you!
