Never even consider sending your children to private Christian schools, much less the public automaton factory. Whether a classroom is based completely on Christian education or secular is not the issue (although, we would by far prefer the Christian). God didn't make teenage boys and girls to sit together in a classroom every day using their brain while real life passes them by.

Right, don't let the kids out, or someone may see the cuts and bruises, from you biblical discipline.
You are absolutely right, Mrs. Pearl. Women should be pregnant as soon as they begin having their first period, and men should be doing Christlike manual labor from age twelve, to their premature death at age thirty.
Yeah, because, like, brains are just so, like, totally overrated?

*cough* *cough* WHAT?!
Did she really just say "God didn't make teenage boys and girls to sit together in a classroom every day using their brain while real life passes them by"?
Fuck, I feel stupider just having read that.
What kind of "real life" is passing them by while they're sitting in a classroom?
At that age, if I wasn't sitting in a classroom, I was programming my TRS-80 to play Star Trek .
Debbie Pearl: the Cesar Millan of human training. When you're done, your child will be able to sit, roll over, fetch and not bark every time someone knocks on the door. Whether they can hold a job, assert themselves, negotiate with people, live in a marriage or do anything else that humans, as opposed to well-trained dogs, need to do, is another matter ...
I happen to agree with her. I truly hated school. Every minute in either the private or public schools I attended was an agonizing waste of years of my life learning unimportant nonsense. And my parents got to pay for the privilege of me being miserable!
One of the greatest tragedies in this country is that we are forced to subscribe to a 'liberal' (and I mean that in the old sense) arts curriculum that puts forward the ideals of a universal education, an ideal that's a waste of time to pursue, a waste of money to fund, and damaging to our international standing on school rankings.
Oh my gosh, you have got to be kidding!
No education because children should be outside playing! Who cares about literacy and needed math skills to function in society, pht!
What exactly should they be doing then? It wasn't the only thing I ever did, but I spent a great deal of my free time reading.
Nikola: "learning unimportant nonsense"
See, that's what I thought much of it was too, but I've learned since that it's not that the stuff presented was unimportant or nonsense, it was that it was presented in a way that [in my experience] systematically refused to explain why it was important and/or useful.

"I'd love to see what she thinks real life is."
I'll lay 3:1 that, whether Debie would admit it or not, the answer for girls is "barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen". *smirks and rolls his eyes*
I was slightly horrified when Richard Dawkins used to talk about childhood indoctrination as child abuse, partly because I disagreed and partly because it would make him sound like a ranting fool to people religious folk.
But it is not that far off the mark. Just as the North Korean government is abusing its people by, among other things, not allowing them access to outside information, this woman wants people to guard their children's minds with such paranoid jealously that they will be exposed to no new concepts. This is justified because it is religious. Nobody else in the world can get away with calling for that kind of treatment of children without people calling them out on it.
"God didn't make teenage boys and girls to sit together in a classroom every day using their brain while real life passes them by."
sorry for the caps but, I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS IS SUPPOSED TO MEAN!!!!!!
So, why did he created a brain in the first place?. And man, what is real life for you?, homeschooling?
God also didn't make teenage boys and girls to sit at home every day, either.
You go, Debie, keep 'em barefoot and pregnant, like God obviously intended!
Exactly. If God made us, he made us to live with nature, collect food and water, build shelter, make clothes of hides, not get killed by the predators.
All of today's education is a more recent acomplishment. But in today's world you need the education to be able to function in the "real life". So the teenagers will have to sit in the classroom till they are about 20-25, when they have "ingested" enough education to be productive members of society.
Or is it just the fact that the boys and the girls share classrooms that is bothering you? (Oh, I did not se the part of "using their brains". Damn... I am so glad homeschooling is not allowed in Sweden, and you are not allowed to treat your kids bad in the name of religion either. )
"God didn't make teenage boys and girls to sit together in a classroom every day using their brain while real life passes them by."
...What? What?! WHAT?!
Looks like someone wasn't using their brain when they wrote this idiotic drivel. If God made you, he made one hell of a mistake. I am surprised you can still remember to breathe. I bet I can convince you to look up at the sky with your mouth open while raining so I can laugh at you when you drown.
"God didn't make teenage boys and girls to sit together in a classroom every day using their brain while real life passes them by."
This just goes to show how fundies want people to be stupid, illiterate, and incapable of rational thought. Because if people were allowed to think critically, then they question religious dogma and are no longer able to be controlled. Fundies cannot have that if they wish to conquer the population.

That is part of it, but I was referring more to the required teaching of high level math in high school. Math that most jobs won't require and should be made an elective. Not to mention the teaching of world history, which is both mandatory and useless in that it has been taught consistently for 30 years and people apparently have learned nothing.
I'm all in favor of school, I just think that we would be a thousand times better off if school was directed exclusively towards preparing for careers, and society stopped punishing people who left school at the minimum leaving age.
Actually the maths you do in high school tends to be very basic. Quadratic equations and so on are needed in a lot of simple aspects of life. We don't know what our kids will be later in life. So teaching them calculus is kind of useful so they know what its like. School is a taste of education.
Yeah screw being things like engineers and doctors... We want our kids to be burger flippers!
If a God did exist, the brain would be his greatest gift cause the line between us and animals are drawn by our brain. Its the difference between us being the hunters and not the hunted.
What is this, I don't even...What. *stares blankly at the screen and slowly topples out of chair*
There's a website that throws statements through Babelfish in multiple languages to purposely create a translation train wreck. I think it makes more sense than the original statement, really.
"Plants never also not to emit its children to private schools of the Christian the much less general plant of the carriage. If a classroom is based completely on the Christian of the training, or on the escape it is not land (even so, we prefer the Christian for very). God didn' T suggests to the young and the girls the end downward to sit down together in a classroom each day that empreg its brain if to start of this real life of the main keys is closed."
Too bad, lady, you're not getting a world of clueless, fecund idiots. Now since you're not using your brain, how about you hand it over to the scientists who will actually use it as something other than skull stuffing?
I sat in a classroom with girls and boys for 12 years, using my brain each day. Real life was there, waiting for me, when I exited the school system at age 19.
As most people in the western world reach the age of 80, that is hardly "real life passing by".
I'm at forty years now, I have half my life ahead of me. More than that even, as I remember very little of the first ten years of my life.
*sarcasm turned on beyond this point* You're right, Debbie! Sending your kids to any kind of school is evil, EVIL I tell you! First, they'll learn such insidious "vital" skills such as reading (they'll learn to read the Bible for themselves instead of being spoonfed the Bible), writing, real math, REAL history, and actual science! This leads to the little monsters thinking for themselves...and even worse, knowing the difference between fact and fiction! Dat dere dern fancy larnin' is of ol' Scratch himself! *sarcasm turned off beyond this point*
Sh*t! My IQ dropped just reading this! Give me my IQ points back NOW!
"God didn't make teenage boys and girls to sit together every day in a classroom setting using their brains..." Oh really?! Are YOU God? No? Then STFU!
As a personal rule, I never take advice from people who beat infants with PVC pipe, are proud of it, and tell other parents that it's a wonderful thing to do.
Confused?
