And Constantine just made Christianity legal. He didn't convert until his death bed. Paul killed people before his conversion. Mohammad was encouraged by his family and friends to become a military leader as opposed to a more religious type leader. He didn't even want to proclaim his message, but his first wife, and another relative, browbeat him into it. Though I don't there is a dispute that there was some level of bloodiness to all religions. Though Early Christians are usually removed from it and didn't adopt a more violent route until after becoming more split and accepted.
Though Islam was forbidden by converting by the sword and had to accept monotheistic religions (Later Hindu was allowed into this special status). The worst they could do was tax them a little more. In fact, the way they treated them back in the day is better than the way most of those fundielands treat them now. Uhm... this isn't remotely true. The Sikhs were formed in the 15th century, about two centuries before there was an Islamic presence in India. It's also not a sect of Hinduism -- indeed, they're entirely incompatible as Sikhism is monotheistic.

It is my understanding that when Mohammed received the Quran from the angel Gabriel, he was pretty sure he had been out in the sun too long and there was a distinct possibility he was crazy. It was his *Christian* wife who convinced him that God had indeed chosen him to bring a new scripture to the world. Yes, she was 20-25 years his senior.
As far as the pedophilia bit, Mohammed may have married her at six because it was the only way to protect her and ensure she had status within his family (adopted children and concubines were pretty much persona non grata). That DOES NOT MEAN HE FUCKED HER then. And while Wikipedia may state she was 9 when the marriage was consummated, that's not exactly a primary source, is it? And who knows if the story is even factual at all?
And no, I'm not Muslim. But I am very tired of hearing how Islam is evil because Mohammed was "a kid fucker!!" We don't *know* that. And there's lots of other reasons Islam could be considered "evil" - most of which is tribal tradition grafted onto the religion.
While demeaning and immature, I can't honestly say there's all that much wrong written in it, other than the assertion that other religions don't recognize Islam; then again I see ALL religions as cults, so whatever.

Zoroastrians still exist in North Africa and the Middle East as a minority religious demographic, and I believe the Sikhs aren't actually a sect or divergence from Zoroastrianism any more than the Jews are. Many of today's religions were at some point influenced by Zoroastrianism (and its sects like Mithraism), including the Abrahamic religions, Sikhism and some schools of Hinduism. But Sikhism definitely is, and I thought the Thessalonians were, an independent religion.
The Abrahamic religions have universally been spread by the sword and have had leaders of, to put it lightly, dubious moral principle. Even if Mohammed was a kiddie-fiddler, that doesn't make Islam any worse than the large number of Christian sects led by paedophiles, does it? And though I hate to rely on moral relativism, it is worth noting that marriage to children was the norm then. It's entirely possible future generations will view today's non-vegetarians (like me) as barbaric in retrospect. Doesn't make it right, but some people are victims of their society more than anything else.
