I dont care how many people support evolution, because salvation is not a popularity contest. And thus lies the problem in your belief system, you're so willing to accept the word of falliable man in support of "science", while turning your back on God. Roughly 2/3rds of the global population WILL end up in hell for not accepting the truth of the Lord. Are these numbers OKAY with you? They aren't OKAY with me, I am deeply concerned about the human population and its ongoing quest to satisfy Satan(as a whole, luckly there are a few smart individuals who have the wisdom to see through these tricks).
As for evolution itself, the USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places. Which is why evolution is "on the rocks" here in the states. But even ignoring that, things like "germs" and "electricity" are not science. These are parts of our reality that can be directly observed, unlike evolution or global warming.
Al Gore is just a politically motivated Charles Darwin. The only thing these two individuals really have in relation to each other, is the location of their eternity after death.

Yeah, god thinks that's pretty cool, I mean, he built hell for a reason, so jump in the fire motherfuckers! God wants to smell your ass sizzling!
Germs and electricity are not science? Oh I see, it's magic or god when you don't know what it is, it's science when it's explained to you, and after it becomes common knowledge and accepted by you, then it becomes a hum-drum part of god's master plan?
Those countries should sue you for making them look bad.
I'm not sure which was more screamingly funny,
The "USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places" bit,
or the
"germs and electricity aren't science", bit
Ah, T&T is back. In good form as ever I see.
Ok,
1. Evolution is not a belief system, how many times does this have to be said?
2. Uh, so it's OK to dismiss "fallible man" when it's science, but not OK to dismiss "fallible man" when we are talking about a book written by those same men and interpreted by men?
3. "The USA holds itself to a higher moral standard"????? Excuse me?
4. Redhunter said it perfectly.
As disappointing as it is to see someone this ravingly fundie using the name of my favorite country in the world (I LOVE Trinidad, and the people I met there were among the most laid-back, accepting, tolerant people I've ever met anywhere on this planet!), I just have to ask...
What the hell is this person smoking? Germs and electricity aren't parts of science? There'd be no concept of these things if it weren't for science in the first place!
Sheer, deep, dark ignorance that I can only imagine to be the result of some form of brain damage. The same kind of deep, dark ignorance that dreams up superstitious fears of wrathful gods plunging "2/3 of the world" into hell, thus justifying making a hell on earth itself. People like this are the same kinds of miscreants that delight in watching an old lady on crutches slip on the ice.
I dont care how many people support evolution, because salvation is not a popularity contest. Do I have permission to quote you to all of the "We Christians are in the majority, so sit down and shut up" people?
As for evolution itself, the USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places. As demonstrated by our crime rate?
The only thing these two individuals really have in relation to each other, is the location of their eternity after death. Prove it from this directly observable reality that you claim to hold so dear.
"things like 'germs' and 'electricity' are not science."
Add my voice to the chorus asking what the glans this object thinks science is for a kickoff.
"Al Gore is just a politically motivated Charles Darwin."
And Gamera, as some Air Farce weenie once said on alt.movies.monster, is just a generic version of a goldfish. The two statements are equally meaningful.
Sheer, deep, dark ignorance that I can only imagine to be the result of some form of brain damage.
Brain damage whose source Alice Miller has diagnosed in a way that convinces me.
I don't care how many people support your mythology, because reality is not a popularity contest. And thus lies the problem in your belief system, you're so willing to accept the word of a con man duping you with a discredited myth is support of "god", while turning your back on reality. 2/3rds of the worlds problems are caused by the general population disregarding reality because they believe some myth or other. Is that OKAY with you? It's not OKAY with me, I am deeply concerned about the human population and its ongoing obsession with what imaginary spooks are telling them to do (luckily there are a few rational individuals who see through these con men, they are called atheists).
As for evolution itself, the USA is a very rational nation that holds itself to higher standards than other places. Which is why fundies are "on the rocks" here in the states. They have to claim the scientific facts prove their mythology is true, instead of just burning scientists at the stake for heresy. But even ignoring that, things like "germs" and "electricity" are accepted by fundies becuse they can't live without them, even as they reject the science that discovered these things and allows the fundies to have a higher standard of living than cave men.
Al Gore is just a modern Charles Darwin. The only difference between these two individuals is the century in which they are attacked by fundies who have a religious objection to the reality he describes.
Fixed.
As for evolution itself, the USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places. Correction: The US right is a backward group that's so conservative it's lagging farther and farther behind the rest of the world on matters such as abortion, evolution, homosexual civil rights and sexism.
As for evolution itself, the USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places.
As demonstrated by our crime rate? and foreign policy
"I don't care how many people support evolution, because salvation is not a popularity contest"
False unstated premise: "... and you can only have salvation if you deny evolution." But there are plenty of religious people who reject that premise. T&T may think they're wrong, but I dare say they think T&T's wrong and is going to hell instead.
And thus lies the problem in your belief system, you're so willing to accept the word of fallible man in support of "science", while turning your back on God.
No, not God; just on a literal interpretation of the Bible, a book written by fallible men. Don't confuse the two. We're not all fundie Southern Baptists or Church of God, and they're not the ones who are right just because they smugly say so themselves.
I don't care how many people support evolution, because salvation is not a popularity contest.
The Bible contradicts not just evolution, but physics, astronomy and geology, too. So just disproving evolution wouldn't make Genesis literally plausible. "Intelligent Design" for example, doesn't make Genesis any more plausible than Darwin.
USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places
The USA has one of the highest rates of serious crime in the western world. And religious people are more likely to be jailed than non-religious people. There is actually a reverse correlation between a country's crime rates and how religious they are. Anyone can claim to have morals.
"...the USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places."
Since when? Because last time I checked, the United States had higher rates of poverty, murder, and drug addiction then just about any other industrialized nation. According to your fundie pals, the USA officially supports the wholesale slaughter of millions of innocent "babies" by abortion. We start wars of aggression that result in the deaths and maiming of hundreds of thousands of people, and when our aggressive tacticts don't work, what's our solution? More troops, weapons, and violence. We tax the hell out of the poor and middle class while giving the super-rich a free pass. We decide that the solution to millions of Americans having no health insurance is to provide a tax break to buy such coverage, completely ignoring the fact that the majority of those without coverage don't make enough money to own income taxes in the first place, so the "solution" to millions of uninsured poor is to provide a subsidy to help pay for the coverage for the wealthy, while the poor still have no coverage. We have built enough nuclear weapons to kill every human being on earth many times over. We trash the environment and expect our grandkids to deal with it. And I could go on and on and on and on...
And you get a "higher moral standard" from all that? Higher than who? The bastard child of Hitler and Satan raised by Saddam in big vat of pure evil?
Roughly 2/3rds of the global population WILL end up in hell for not accepting the truth of the Lord. Are these numbers OKAY with you? They aren't OKAY with me, I am deeply concerned about the human population and its ongoing quest to satisfy Satan
And here you truly show the hypocrisy of your position.
You admit that you are not happy about the supposed judgement of your imaginary friend, so why don't you go and take up the issue with him and leave the rest of us the hell alone!
Øyvind:
Wait... electricity is not science since it can be observed? What on Earth?!
This is the latest creationist strategy to discredit evolution.
They have to discredit all of science but somehow avoid the problem of how can light bulbs steam engines and computers work if science is invalid?
They do this by declaring any machine that can be observed to be working is technology, while the theory used to design it is "only a theory" and therefore liberal atheist lies.
This is how electricity can be real and therefore not science.
you're so willing to accept the word of falliable man in support of "science", while turning your back on God .
Actually, we have the words of fallible men which describe repeatable experiments and results to support our scientific knowledge of the world. We have only the word of fallible men that your god exists, and it contradicts a lot of our evidence. Overall, the scientific method is well in the lead.
"holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places."
No offence to Americans, but if your country is an example of higher moral standards, the rest of us are FUCKED.
"How does one observe electricity, exactly?"
I'm not sure, but I think T&T should start by locating a power socket and checking inside it with a metallic object.
That higher moral standard? A sociological study conducted last summer shows the secular nations of Europe have much lower rates of crime, STD's, teenage pregnancies, and on and on. In some categories the God-fearing USA is seen as dysfunctional.
"And thus lies the problem in your belief system.."
And thus lies your problem with reality, science isn't a belief system.
But wait, don't order yet, we'll also throw in the Ginsu knife and bamboo steamer at no extra charge:
"But ignoring that things like germs and electricity are not science..."
No, you really didn't say that did you?
Computer: $1000
Internet Acess: $25 per month
Fundie morons attempting to reason: priceless.
It hasn't been addressed yet, so I'd like to point out that the Theory of Evolution is not "on the rocks," as T&T states.
It's scientifically accepted pretty much everywhere, and has plenty of evidence to support it. (fossil records, speciation)
This is why it's taught in every public school and quite a few private schools - and why fundies have been griping about it since the theory was formed.
Um.......I don't even know where to start, that's so much bullshit it's not even funny. How you managed to grow to an age where you can use the Internet when you are obviously phenomenally stupid baffles me.
The USA holds itself to a higher moral standard then other places? That must be why they invaded Iraq, imprisoned people in Cuba without charges, tortured people, have supported numerous tyrannical regimes because said regimes were willing to pay them off, and have done numerous other bullshit things. Yes a wonderfully high moral standard. Oh yes, and the violent crime rate is considerably higher then the Bible Belt, AKA Fundyland then in other places in the US.
@Moron of the Year 2006
But even ignoring that, things like "germs" and "electricity" are not science. These are parts of our reality that can be directly observed, unlike evolution or global warming.
Al Gore is just a politically motivated Charles Darwin. The only thing these two individuals really have in relation to each other, is the location of their eternity after death."
I forget the exact definition of science, but it is along the lines of the observation of natural events - materialism (in the non consumerist sense).
Hence studying germs is part of science - medicine, biology, natural history etc. Studying or harnessing electricity or any other form of EMR is part of applied physics.
Now, ironically, evolution and global warming have nboth been observed and do both have a mountain of evidence in the sciences listed above, namely medicine, biology, natural history and physics. (and others)
Finally, thanks for suggesting Al Gore gets buried in Westminster Abbey. I'm not sure his family would approve of the convenience, but it is a great honour!
I can't see them digging up Sir Isaac Newton or anyone like that though, so it wont happen unfortunately.
I dont care how many people support evolution, because salvation is not a popularity contest.
Science is not a popularity contest; salvation, on the other hand, seems to be mostly about how popular you are with the heavenly geezer...
And thus lies the problem in your belief system, you're so willing to accept the word of falliable man in support of "science", while turning your back on God.
Science isn't a belief system, you lackwit!
Roughly 2/3rds of the global population WILL end up in hell for not accepting the truth of the Lord.
Only two thirds? And here I thought it only 14400 virgin Jewish men were supposed to get saved...
Are these numbers OKAY with you?
Since they are pulled out of your ass, I don't really care... I don't believe in a life after death anyway.
Are these numbers OKAY with you? They aren't OKAY with me, I am deeply concerned about the human population and its ongoing quest to satisfy Satan(as a whole, luckly there are a few smart individuals who have the wisdom to see through these tricks).
I don't believe in satan either, but if I did I would think that pleasing him may be a smart idea, considering the power you fundies seem to attribute to him.
As for evolution itself, the USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places. Which is why evolution is "on the rocks" here in the states. ::headdesk:: ::headdesk:: ::headdesk:: KRRRAAK! ::headfloor::
Al Gore is just a politically motivated Charles Darwin.
While Al Gore would probably feel flattered to be compared with Darwin, I suspect he'd find your questionning of his integrity/sincerity far less enjoyable. Anyway, your analogy is flawed, Gore didn't discover global warming, he's simply trying to raise public awareness about it.
The only thing these two individuals really have in relation to each other, is the location of their eternity after death.
Trying for the non-contradiction award, I see. I suppose that you're technically right, if your consider nothingness a location.
Sheer, deep, dark ignorance that I can only imagine to be the result of some form of brain damage.
Brain damage whose source Alice Miller has diagnosed in a way that convinces me.
In France, when faced with such people, we usually wonder out loud if their craddle was rocked a bit too close to the wall :P
The USA is more moral than other places? So, you have fewer murders than other countries, fewer prisons and executions, fewer rapes, pedophiles, wife-beaters, adulterers, tax evaders, lower child-mortality rates?
Erm, science describes and explains observable (and unobservable) reality. You could almost say science = reality.
Why would you want to compare Al Gore and Charles Darwin? Gore is a politician, Darwin was a naturalist. Gore is an American, Darwin was English. Gore lives now, Darwin died in 1882. Gore is Baptist, Darwin was agnostic Unitarian. They are both men, though...
As for evolution itself, the USA is a very religious nation that holds itself to a higher moral standard than other places.
As an American, this offends me greatly. Why must we always hold ourselves out to be "better" than the rest of the world?
Which is why evolution is "on the rocks" here in the states.
That is just so much bullshit.
Tiny Bulcher
"How does one observe electricity, exactly?"
1. Strip rubber off of electrical wire.
2. Place hand on electrical wire.
3. ???
4. Profit!!!
Something TnT needs to try someday.
Electricity has nothing to do with science. Germ Theory has nothing to with science. Because they can be observed and are part of reality.
But things like evolution and global warming which can also be observed and are part of reality are completely different.
Okay, yeah . . . wait, what? How does that make any sense at all?
And are you saying that science deals only with things that can't be observed and have no correlation to reality? That's not what science means. Fundamentalism, however, fits that definition perfectly.
2/3 of the population were created by God, who gave them free will. So, they, including God, can do whatever they like. It's maybe you the one who has issues?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
