[On Pokemon]

You can tell a tree by its fruits. The fruits of this passion for Pokemon are want, anxiety, avarice, envy, jealousy, rage, self-exaltation, pride, conceit, and an abiding belief in evolution. The practice consumes time and interest, thus promoting idleness, disrespect, escapism, despair, and loneliness. (cf. Galatians 5:16-26)

At it's base level, Pokemon trains the sinful flesh to elevate itself to become the Master ("like God", cf. Isaiah 14:12-15)...

Nintendo has capitalized on the vulnerability of the novice. The clerks at Barnes and Noble Bookseller's promote Pokemon as an entry level game designed to prepare the uninitiated for the game called "Magic: the Gathering." "Magic: the Gathering" trains the apprentice for "Dungeons & Dragons" and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons." Like "Harry Potter" of the modern best seller fiction novels, the Masters of "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" are ready to be empowered for white witchcraft. The popularity of such spiritual games has laid the groundwork for many who have fallen into the coven of Wicca. (cf. Deuteronomy 18:9-14)...

There is nothing "magic" about the despair and death that lies at the end of the game. God's Word warns us against:

Simply sampling a little foolishness. (peri, eg. Proverbs 1:22, Proverbs 7:7, Proverbs 14:15);

Lest we begin to enjoy foolishness. (kesil, eg. Proverbs 10:23; Proverbs 14:8,l6);

If we enjoy foolishness, then we will begin to defend foolishness (ewil, eg. Proverbs 12:15, Proverbs 14:9).

Once we are our own defense of our own foolishness, we have become the "Godless fool" with all his promotions of self and sorcery. (nabal, eg. Psalm 14:l).

It's not even Pokemon. It's Pokémon.
And as for those Biblical quotes: Proverbs: 1:22 "How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?" - says nothing, apart from that people enjoy being the way they are. 7:7 "And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding," - so?...the story is actually part of a story of how this young man goes to meet a Harlot. But she is, predictably, the one damned to hell and he gets off scott free. 10:23 "It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom" - this quote is backwards. It assumes the games are mischief therefore we are fools. You need something which says we are fools, therefore the game is mischief. "The man of understanding hath wisdom" is a tautology. 14:8 "The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way: but the folly of fools is deceit." - Irrelevent quote. The sort of thing Yoda would say. 14:16 "A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident." - Irrelevent again. It hasn't been established that the games are evil, or that the people who play them are fools. 12: 15 "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise." 14:9 "Fools make a mock at sin: but among the righteous there is favour." - These two say the same thing. And neither is relevent unless you can show that the games are actually wrong. And my favourite: Psalms 14:1 " The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good." Ah...that's why we're fools...because we're atheists! That's why the game is evil...because atheists play it. Nothing to do with the content of the game, it seems.

Hmmmm...I actually (assistant) managed a Wizard's of the Coast store for a few years back when, and it is in fact a valid accusation that Wizard's of the Coast acquired thr license to print English language Pokemon cards in order to use it as a younger-age enticement to eventually lead into Magc: The Gathering. We were even given training on how to help kids make the "transition" and how to recognize when Pokemon players were "ready" to move up to Magic. But why did WotC do this? To promote a world-wide Satanic agenda? To corrupt the youth of America?
Nope. They did it for the most noble, American reason! Profit! Pokemon and M:TG was basically a license to print money back in the '90s, of course they were manipulating the market. As for M:TG leading into D&D and "AD&D?" Well, let's ignore the fact that there hasn't been an "AD&D" since the late 80's and point out that they are apples and oranges. Collectable Card vs. Role Playing. That's like saying the Tic Tac Toe is the gateway game to Football. (And in my experience, the CCG nuts usually tend to hate the RPG nuts.)

Whats wrong, boy, cant tell reality from fiction? Of course you cant, you think YOUR fiction?
I think the real reason they hate goodol Roleplaying games so much, though, is because of one specific thing in them: The ability to write up and come up with gawds and demigawds and entire pantheons, along with the myths and legends that surround them, and their religions... and do it in ways that put the bible to shame. When you realise just how EASY it is, and how elaborate one 12 year old writing crap on the back of his mathbook during class for a few days can make these, the fact that a couple of old misogynists in their caves could do the same with no inspiration whatsoever and plenty to gain, is not exactly a big leap. By the way, old D&D and AD&D arent dead. Check out their spiritual (and grittier, but with improved/streamline systems and skills that do work)descendant Hackmaster; the real thing runs incredibly well, with more flavor (though a bit less ease for beginners)than 3.5

Point me to a single survey that shows Pokémon has had an impact on the belief in the ToE.
As for the others, I agree that the card-collecting, for many, get way out of hand. Addiction can be a horrific thing.

A prime example of someone not thinking before they post. Every action in the world, from prayer to eating to talking to walking your dog to having sex 'consumes time and interest'.

Another example of not thinking before posting. What about these actions? Do they count as evil in your book, too? They all involve a 'master' 'ruling' someone else: Owning a pet. Becoming a teacher. Becoming a pastor or other religious leader. Becoming a manager, CEO, or other kind of leader. Playing any sort of game involving you taking on a leader role (such as RTS titles).

True. But only a bad thing if sprits, magic, etc. are real, which I do not see how they can be. Oh, and... Deuteronomy? The most absurd chapter in the whole Bible? What do your neighbours have to say about your killing of unbelievers, as commanded by Deuteronomy? I like the Bible verse about foolishness, though.
